I know there are several Regis and Kelly threads. HOwever, I really wanted to stress the point that it is BLATANTLY obvious that this show is NOTHING more than one big Disney commercial. Obvious without the annoying explanations of everything it would be great Disney advertisement but with the things they are showing and talking about.............it is obvious that it was a "paid set-up" to mention certain things like they do.

I want to watch a show like that to enjoy the fact that they are at Disney. However, especially from today's show, I feel like it is nothing more than one big commercial.

I Tivo'd it to see all the Disney stuff I knew they'd feature...

That said, I think the show is unbelievably pathetic. The conversations are totally LAME :badpc:

No I didnt, but I just think it's better to not put it there. Personally to do all of that for nothing more than self promotion is not fair to the guests that are paying their money (lots of it) to spend their vacation there.

Regis was showing photos of him on TOT and he wason there with one friend and one employee, that's it!

That to me is not fair. I know they are celebrities, but they are going for free and everyone else there that is told to WAIT is PAYING. Just doesnt sound right to me.

Also Kelly Rippa mentioned that she rode Peter Pan and stayed on many times without getting off.

For those that are going to say that they have that right: If a Dis'er on here mentioned they stayed on multiple times while others waited, they'd get flamed to ashes.

She said that they go on it every time. She also said that as a joke " just let us stay on and we will tell you when we are done" Just all in fun that her kids really like the ride.

Actually after seeing how Reg. rode TOT, I would be willing to say that while she was likely "joking", she was probably riding it multiple times. I was a little bothered to see Regis having TOT all to himself DURING park hours.

Uuummmm...you do know that there is a connection between ABC and the Walt Disney Company, right? And you do know that Disney is not a non-profit organization, right?

Every single guest on the Regis and Kelly show is there specifically to get publicity for his/her upcoming project. Every single thing on the Regis and Kelly show is specifically designed to make you watch it so you will see the commercials and buy the products advertised. That's all entertainment TV is.

Regis and Kelly are not at WDW because they like to ride Peter Pan. They are there because it is sweeps week...and they are being paid to do their job, which is to make you notice them and what they are advertising.

And it's just silly to expect any celebrity to shove it over and let another person squeeze on to a ride in a theme park. These people have security and liability issues that you couldn't dream of having to deal with. If your kid tosses his lunch on Mission:Space and hits Mom or Dad, it's just a cute family story. If it's Kelly sitting next to him, it's a national news story immediately. There are very good reasons to keep those boundaries firm...

For that matter, couldn't R & K be considered Cast members, if they are also employess of Cap City/ABC?

I totally agree that it's a giant Disney commercial. However, in light of the fact the I drop what I'm doing and run in to watch *real Disney commericials just to see a little piece of the magic, it's not so much a problem for me. :teeth:

Assuming you were not in line to ride TOT while Regis rode it, I'm at a loss to understand why you would be bothered at all. As someone else mentioned, this happens frequently when celebrities visit Disney. Small price to pay and I doubt that such activities cause that much inconvenience to the other guests.

I found it annoying also that there were only 3 people in that picture, but when was it said that this was after the park had opened. It could have very well been before the front gates opened unless the ride took place after yesterdays taping but I don't remember Regis saying "When I rode TOT yesterday.".

Well if we lived by your philosphy then none of us would be on here talking because 99.99% of us are NOT in the Disney parks but very emphatically voicing our opinions of the parks and the ongoings.

Personally i do have a problem with the fact that PAYING individuals are in the parks waiting for a ride and a celebrity gets to stop the attraction to ride BY HIMSELF. It also says something about the celebrity. If I were a celebrity (and I'm not and may think different if I were, but if I did think differently I would seem if fair to follow with this response.) I would feel embarassed if they made everyone stand there and wait so I could ride an attraction by myself. One time I was at Disney when there were NO crowds and was on Test Track and it broke down. When I cam back through they offered me another ride, but there were people waiting. I felt so guilty to make those people stand there and wait, I got up and let them go and didnt take my extra ride. Now there would have been nothing wrong had I done it, but I just look at them and think, how can they not think that is "over the top?" The same people standing in those lines being held up are the same reason they have the fame to be able to do that.

I'm with you on this one. I have been completely glued to the tv since they've been at Disney. I don't even usually watch the show but now you can't tear me away! 3 more weeks and I'll be there live and in person myself!!

...and yet, it's because Regis is riding TOT that some watching will say "Hey, let's go to Disney World!" We can be jealous of celebrities and the privileges they receive, but it's as a result of us watching them and the hopeful result of us booking a trip -- and we do.

Oh, here's another good one . . .

When showing the picture of him, his guide and some lady at theTofT, Regis said, "You know, they give you this picture when you go on the ride". Disney . . . give ? ? ? Yeah right! :rotfl2:

I guess his was given to him, but come on, Regis, figure it out. I can't believe he let us think Disney just gives these pictures to all who ride. Imagine that photo bill! :scared1:

It is not unusual for a TV Host to get special treatment when doing a show.A few years ago I was a morning show host for a radio show which was also carried on local cable. We did many live shows from various tourists locations at the invite of that particular establishment.Believe me they rolled out the red carpet with the understanding that most everything you talked about on the show would be about their resort or park.In most cases there was a free trip to be given away to some one in the at home audience so the whole thing is kind of a trade off.

I can tell you a big word at Disney is SYNERGY. Promoting themselves anyway they can is done constantly.
Guess if you want to ride PP without the line you have to become a celebrity.

lol, I thought the same thing! Give? Since when? I know I paid for mine.

I found it funny thought because every time he talked about Disney it was OBVIOUS that he knew NOTHING of Disney. Guess he's not a real Dis'er.

He was describing where he at dinner last night and couldnt remember the name of the resort until finally someone off camera had to tell him "Contemporary" and then said "that fireworks show". Not that I want to be critical. I really dont expect him to know them all. he is a workoholic and never vacations evidently but just found it funny.

Wait-are you posting from the World right now?

If I'm not there to be inconvenienced, I guess I wouldn't care.

And, I think you might've come to the wrong place to vent about that Regis show being nothing more than a big Disney commercial. Most of the folks here don't mind one big, long Disney commercial. (But from your second post, I gather that this was more a vent about celebs and preferential treatment at WDW.)
