I am hoping someone out there can answer this for me. I just bought into BCV in August, and my family and I are not taking our first trip down until November of 2003. We have already banked 100% of our points for this year to use next year. Our UY is March.

If I want to book for November of 03 at 11 months this will mean that I will need to call next month, but my 03 points don't come into play until March. Is this going to be a problem, or does MS see that you are booking for a date past the start of your UY?

I guess to simplify it further...if I haven't reached my UY, can I still book at 11 months using those 2003 UY points in addition to the points I banked for 02 knowing that by the time we arrive we will be past our UY date?

You may book at the 11-month window. As long as points WILL be available for your ressie.

Just to add a little to what Chuck said;

The key date is your arrival date, not the date you make the reservation.

So yes, you will want to call next month if you want to make the reservation at the 11 month window.

Regarding your points:: The banked ones go first before the other points.

Just to clarify a little more:

You make your 11-month reservation at 11-months to your CHECK-OUT date, not arrival date.

Points for the trip must be available for each day of the vacation beginning with the arrival date.

Your use year runs March 1 thru Feb 28 (or 29th).

For you, your 2003 use year is then 3-1-03 thru 2-29-04

Nov 2003 is in your 2003 use year period.

Your 2002 points were banked so they are considered 2003 points now.

In march you will have your regular allotment of your March 2003 points.

Regardless of when you make the reservation, it is only required that you will have the required number of points available at the actual time of your trip, that is Nov 2003. You do not have to have the points in your account at the time of the reservation itself.

Another bit of advice, be sure you specify that they are to use your banked points first. They should do this automatically, but it doesn't hurt to remind them.

Some of us like to call in day by day rather than wait until the departure date. (this is a good idea for particularly popular travel dates.) If you decide to do this, let Member Services know when you book the arrival date. They normally mail out a confirmation of a booking when it's made, but they'll hold onto it until it's complete if you notify them from the start.

And..........WELCOME HOME!!! :D

You make your 11-month reservation at 11-months to your CHECK-OUT date, not arrival date.

This works on less busy times of year, and less popular units....but, if you are booking for New Year's Eve, the first 2 weeks of December, or a Grand Villa, it doesn't hurt to call one day at a time and make the reservation. I'd hate to wait till my check out date, only to find some of my days taken. Better safe than sorry. One thing you can do, is call on the first day, and find out availability, and whether or not you need to call each day.

Good Luck with your Reservation!

We wer in same situation earlier this yr. We bought at VWL in Jan but UY didnt start until Aug. We like to go in Dec and were told by DVC salesperson that even though we couldnt use pts until UY started we could book at 11 mos window at home resort.

So yes you can go ahead and book at 11 mos exactly from the day you will be leaving your DVC resort. Advice from a rookie, BE SURE TO BOOK AT 11 MOS WINDOW OR YOU MIGHT NOT GET EXACT TIME THAT YOU WANT. Not to scare you but just some friendly advice.:D
