Okay I know I have until January 31 to bank up to 100% of my Aug use year points, but does it matter to anyone or to DVC in general if I bank them now or on January 31st? I mean is there some advantage to them to know earlier that I will not use those points this year? Does that release more rooms to cash sooner? Does that translate into any effect on dues? Just wondering...

No reason or advantage to anyone to bank early. For DVC management that might rent units not used, that applies to DVC inventory that is not reserved by members by 60 days before a date and whether you bank early or late does not change that process. It also has no impact on dues.

Well, if a certain # of points are available any given year, once those points are banked, doesn't that let DVD know that they have more availability for the rest of a given time period? I am referring to the collective effect of many people banking, not just the effect of me alone...

Banking does help DVC in assessing the balance between current, banked and borrowed points (banking and borrowing can be terminated if needed). The banking deadlines provide DVC with an idea of the points available for the next few months for reservations, but banking on Dec 15 or Jan 31 doesn't affect the overall picture enough to matter.

There is no benefit to banking points early- except to eliminate the possibility of allowing the date to slip by. ;)

Enjoy!
