Regarding having souvenirs sent to your resort..

That service was VERY costly . CM's at park-transportation - resort.
If really want item , purchase it last/end of day.

I'm sure many of the services they provide are expensive. That's why the prices we pay are so high. But they keep removing services and the prices don't seem to be coming down, only up. They managed to pull of this expensive service for many years, and Universal is still doing it, even in the pandemic.

On previous trips I had lots of purchases sent back to our resort. When DH took the kids on some rides I would do some Christmas shopping. On our August trip I bought 1 present and that was it. Too stressful to carry it around worrying if the kids would see it!

I miss those "ship to the room" days. I used to love coming back to the room and "ta-da" right there on the dresser... all my packages! Although sometimes, I had to pick up from the hotel gift shop, but that was great as well. Usually, I'm a DS shopper, one day of shopping. I like to shop at the parks as we're leaving, then I can just cash and carry.

I imagine more people save their shopping till the end of their night in the parks now.

And hope what they want to purchase isn't sold out. Sometimes you have to grab things when you see them instead of waiting until the end of the night.
Yep. I really wanted those light up 50th ears that you can charge. They were gone by the time I went to get them. All over eBay and poshmark. I don’t trust eBay and poshmark at all. And the poor CM at World of Disney even told me the limit per customer sucks because the same person can come back or have multiple people buying for them and then make a fortune off of it.

And some things are only in limited stores, like when I bought my Space Mountain mug. It's not always convenient to trek back to a particular store at the end of the night.

grrrr..... That's one of the reasons we booked an onsite hotel. It certainly causes less guest spending. I know there will be things I'll see when we are there that I'd buy but don't want to carry around. Yeah you can go back and get it at the end of the day, but if you don't think about it till you are at the front of the park, and the store is all the way in the back, and we are tired.... And that's if you don't forget about it completely. Yeah, it's not the end of the world, but just one more knock on the experience.

Fortunately Universal still offers the service.

I'm bummed to hear that this was discontinued. We just booked our first on-site stay since 2009 (with several off-site in between) and it seems like there are fewer and fewer perks to staying on site.

I have to assume that Disney did the math and figured that whatever merch sales they would be losing from discontinuing this, they would more than make up for elsewhere. I'd guess that retail sales are one of the least profitable parts of the parks, anyway.
