I am trying to decide between these two resorts and I would love to have some opinions by midnight because book it .com has some deals for regal sun resort. I think the pool is better at the regal....i hear the rooms are better at the doubletree....just don't know what to do....any suggestions. Definitely want to stay in dtd....and don't want to pay more than 100.00 a night....

on mousesavers.com has a review of the doubletree at DTD. Also checkout tripadvisor.com for hotel reviews.

You can do a search of both hotels on the board. On the boards I have seen the Doubletree resorts get the better reviews.

We had a great stay at the Regal Sun in October. We were in the regular section, not the tower, and our room was great. It felt very new and clean. The pool there is awesome! My five year old loved it. Plus, it was the closest hotel to Downtown Disney. It was a really short walk. We could leave our room and be at Goofy's Candy Store less than 10 minutes later. The Doubletree is a bit further away. We wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

We stayed at the Regal Sun back before the room renovations when it was called the Grosvenor. It wasn't the best hotel I've ever stayed in, but we could walk across the street to DTD, which we loved. It would be a pretty major hike from Doubletree.

Can anyone tell me what the transportation is like from the Regal Sun? Can you take Magic Express to/from this hotel? Also I know the DTD hotels offer Disney transportation to the parks, is this on "regular" disney buses or the busses that are in the alternate parking lot that you don't really know is there unless you have to take one of those busses? I have a friend considering the Regal and any help is appreciated. thanks! :)

I'm the friend mentioned in the post above. Any information on this would be great. Thanks in advance!

My experience is a few years old, but our family was underwhelmed with the Regal Sun (when it was the Grosvenor). The pool was nice, and the laundry was convenient. There was a decent character breakfast on site, which was nice. It was also very convenient to get to DTD, if that's important to you. As for transportation...it was hit or miss from the resort. Often we would choose to go to the DTD bus stop, travel to a resort and then go from the resort to the park of our choice. It may not have been more efficient, but it was preferable to waiting for who knows how long for the next bus to appear at the hotel.

We all thought the rooms were a bit tired and worn looking, but with the change in ownership and refurbishment, that may all be changed.
