We stayed at Regal Palms last November and it was great! The park itself is good - although there are some new bits being built so I suppose it might be noisier down that end. We were in the older part (I say older - about two years old!) and 2 mins from the Reception and pool area. The pool area is awesome - almost like having your own typhoon lagoon on site! DD would probably have spent the whole holiday in there quite happily!
The houses are well set out with all mod cons. We rented ours privatly from a woman I work with but I think they're pretty standard to be honest.
With regards to distance to the parks. It DID take a while to get to Universal (about 40 mins) but as I have a journey of that length to work each day, it didn't bother me much. To get to the nearest disney park (AK) took about 15 mins tops via the Sherberth Rd entrance. It was another 5 mins to MGM and Epcot and perhaps another 5 to MK (so 25 mins tops to MK). It's a bit too far to go back in the day for a rest IMHO but if you go for the day it's no problem at all.
Nearby (5 mins walk, 1 min drive) is a huge Publix for food, snacks etc. I think there was a Pizza place and another take-away (Chinese?)
ut we never used them. Five mins up the road is the big
Walmart to buy just avbout everything else you could possibly need! Once you get on the 192 there's loads of eating places between there and Sherberth Rd for breakfast on the way to the parks and dinner oj the way back. If you go DOWN the 27, there's a load more eating palces by the I4 junction. The other 'short-cut' we used was to get on the I4, towards Universal, near Champions Gate. If you go DOWN the 27 until you get to the Ronald Reagan Parkway - tuen left into this rad and follow the road until you see a huge hotel/apartment complex set back a long way from the road on your left. Turn up the next left rd and this will take you through the 'gates' at Champions Gate - go past another big Publix and you'll come to the !4 junction. It sounds complicated but this was the way we went in on the first night and had no difficulty finding it then or on future trips that way.
Hope that helps a bit! If you've got any questions I'll do my best to help in any way I can!
Jacqui
