I just read this in another thread and had no idea you could do this!!!

Our last trip was a land/sea package so we didn't check in at the port; we just boarded. Do you do this at check in, or is there another area? Are there only certain times?

TIA!!!!

Yes, you can now sign up for the kids club before you board. After you check in you will find they have an area by the snack shop to fill out the forms, get your pager and sign up. Very convenient
.

Hi....they started doing this back in the fall of '04. I believe they start signing up the kids as soon as the terminal is open for guest check-in. It is off to the right of the terminal. We got to the port very early this past January and if you click the link to a pic you will see my son all way to the right (in orange shirt) talking to one of the CM's he remembered from a previous cruise....that is the area that they do the kids club check-in....near where the coffee shop was/is (not sure if they reoponed the coffee shop or not).

You can also see how empty it is if you get there as soon as the terminal opens...also in the pic is my hubby and DD about to get on the boarding line (first ones in line).

Thanks mmouse37!

This is my first post!! I am taking the kids(DD 13 DS 9) on our first cruise, 5/22. HOW early did you arrive at the port?

Since I will be bringing the kids alone...we are flying in a couple of days early...staying at the Radisson at the Port...I am trying to "get my bearings"!

Really enjoyed your photo's...hope mine turn out that great!

Does anyone know if this option will be available for the West Coast cruises this summer?

I hope so. Are you on the June 11th cruise too? We're also in San Diego and have a 4yo DD and an almost 3yo DD.

We also stayed at the Radisson. We signed up for the 10:30 shuttle from the Radisson. We were at the Port in less than 10 min. Walked right through security and checked right in. Then signed the kids up for the clubs. I would say about 11:30 people started to get in line to board. We waited and got in line just as they started letting people board about 12:00.
Went very smoothly.

Can you give me a phone number so I can make a reservation for the radisson, and does Radisson have a pool?

Thanks, GOldi

And approx cost?

yippeeDCL....We arrived right at 10:00 and they made us wait in the parking lot until they opened up for check-in...about 10:20 they let us drop our luggage off and hubby parked the car in the lot and met us inside. So I would say we were inside right about 10:30 and we were first to check in and first in line to board.

Goldilocks....you can find the Radisson phone number on their website here....

I think we are scheduled for the 10:15 shuttle. That should work out about right. I was just concerned that the wait time may be too much for the kids?

We love getting to the terminal early and just absorbing all the atmosphere!!! The characters usually make an appearance and there are televisions with kids programming on them. What we usually do is take turns standing in line...while the other parent and/or child walks around and checks things out.....then we switch. As long as you let your fellow "line people" know what you are doing you should have no problem coming and going from the line...as long as at least one person holds your place in line. Everyone on line has always been friendly and the wait time goes by pretty quickly!!

Don't worry too much about the wait time at the terminal. This IS Disney so they have Characters you can have your picture taken with and monitors playing cartoons and an absolutely fabulous scale mode of the ship that the kids can look at. Also there are other kids to meet. Wear your lime green "Mickey Head" paint chip from Home Depot that IDs you as a Dis-er and you'll be surprised how many folks you'll meet.

And because you're a really smart mom, you're going to have a bottle of water for each of them and some simple snacks (peanuts, raisins, Skittles) stashed in your carry on.

Sorry to be dense! What is.....lime green "Mickey Head" paint chip from Home Depot?

Home Depot carries a line of Disney colored inspired paints....the sample chips for those colors are different colored Mickey heads (the mickey icon). Well lime green is the official DIS color for identifying other Dis board members....many of us have gone to our local H.D. to pick up these paint samples....I believe Alien Green is the color most of us are using.

I just happend to be at H.D. today and picked up a bunch of different colors and plan to make luggage tags out of them. Some make magnets with their Dis name and family name on them and place them on their cabin doors....you can be creative as you want!!!

But, I think H.D. and Disney are catching on to us....there were hardly any Mickey head color samples left....they were all replaced with new color samples that had no hint of Mickey on them......boo hoo!!!

OOOHHH!! ok, now I'm understanding!

I LOVE the luggage tag idea!!! I have looked at several stores but, just have not found what I want...that is the PERFECT tag!

Thanks a million for the info!! I guess it is obvious...I'm a little "wet behind the EARS" (heehee)

That is what this board is all about...the sharing of info and experiences!!! Glad you are part of the DIS....any questions...ask away!!!
