Refuse to give Disney your Finger-print?

Uh oh... this opens a whole new can of worms . . . when you talk about "testing" for the future - Jetson style (i.e. future, space, possible aliens) . . . are there probes of any type involved later on??? I mean... finger scans are one thing, but . . . :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

I think they may mean getting rid of tickets altogether and just using fingerprint scans. You would buy a voucher, and scan your fingerprint on your first visit on a ticket, and after that, not need a physical ticket.

Another lesson in irony?? :rotfl2:

Still here you are... on page 16... at post number 200 and something..... still inserting silly faces into the dialogue.

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Did I mention that the policy is just voluntary?? LOL :thumbsup2

I've got it figured out!! This finger scan is just a prerequisite to having a great big Mickey Mouse STAMPED right in the middle of our FOREHEADS in order to get through. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

. . . It's done to prevent me from using someone elses ticket, and to prevent anyone else from using mine . . .

1) If people didn't swap/sell/transfer tickets, this wouldn't be necessary.
2) Disney has the right to protect its revenue.
3) As an option, there is always Universal and Sea World.

I have sat through and read 11 pages of this farce (oops, I meant discussion). I can't take anymore. Geez people...someone was expressing their opinion. There are no rights or wrongs here. It wasn't like the OP was asking whether we thought they should rob a bank or molest a child. They were asking opinions about a policy that has been implemented (for protecting Disney against ticket fraud) but is still optional (with other alternatives) at Disney World.

No, the OP doesn't agree with the finger scans. So what. Since they don't agree, they present their ID and then move on...nothing wrong with that. I think Disney knows that too, that is why there is the option of presenting ID instead of scanning your finger.

For those who don't mind the finger scans, good for you. Again, scan away and move on.

I don't care either way. I can see the point of both sides and while I think it is good to be cautious in this day and age of identity theft, I also think you have to draw the line at being over-cautious. No, you shouldn't comprimise your personal safety or privacy, but you also can't live in a state of perpetual fear or caution.

Obviously, no matter what Disney or anyone else comes up with for protecting themselves from ticket fraud, nothing is ever going to be completely safe or effective. Someone will always disagree with it and then of course, we'll have more incredibly long, drawn out, ridiculous threads like this one.

Let's move on folks...life is too short to bash one another because of differences in opinions! :flower3:

watch out for aliens...they tend to be very opinionated. LOL

Sorry I needed to post something to check my sig and this seemed like a good place. LOL

Which of course didnt work..oh well.

True, and I never said or implied otherwise.

2) Disney has the right to protect its revenue.

True, and I never said or implied otherwise.

3) As an option, there is always Universal and Sea World.

True, and I have patronized them both in addition to Disney; in fact, I am a Universal Annual Passholder.

I've been thinking about this...I am going to ask if they will accept hair samples instead.

So then you should object to your government fingerprinting people that want to enter your country then because that just seems fishy to me. That is why teh move of the US customs office to Canadian soil was not done because your government wanted to fingerprint people walking up and asking for info and Canada told them no way no how.

That funny because on another thread talkong about DME and customes a person from toronto said they go through U.S. customs in the toronto airport. That seems to me that canada has a U.S. customs base in canada.

No big deal....live life without fear. If someone really wants to get your finger print all they have to do is take a Coke can from your recycling bin. Be careful driving your car ...you might leave a finger print on it . Your fingerprints are everywhere......unless of course you wear gloves 24 hours per day. :cool1:

I'm not even going to attempt to read all these posts. I'll just get annoyed, and possibly p-ed off....Disney is not actually taking your fingerprint, and they are not going to use any information they could get from it (which is none, because they aren't getting your prints). They don't need your fingerprint to get your info when you have already given them your names, address, phone#, cc#, etc. This is just ridiculous. Disney does not have some underlying reason for the "fingerprint" scans. Disney is not trying to take over the world through fingerscans!

Getting rude and calling names is not very adult like - there is a teen board for those who cant behave like an adult :sad2:

Quote: THE ALIENS!!!!! THE ALIENS ARE COMING TO GET ME! They will probe my brain and do unspeakable things to my body parts before releasing me with big chunks of my memory missing. And I hear tell they remove your fingerprints so you no longer can cash a check or enter amusement parks.:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

If you are not going to read a sample of the posts wht did you come on and make this comment. If you do not like the thread move on.

Let people discuss, a thread can develop a life of it's own, maybe this should be on the community board but let people who want to debate an issue, I have taken issue with Willcad but I have to be honest not very passionate views on this matter but I like debating and I hope Willcad enjoys it too. If not they (sorry not sure if M ot F) can stop taking part and so can I. Freedom of expression is precious and so is a good argument.

They do but only in the airports currently this was to be based at land crossing starting with the bridge connecting Canada and the US into Buffalo. It was designed to speed up traffic going across teh bridge both into the US and back into Canada as Canada customs would have been moved to the US side. It was atleast 2 years of talks and dealings flushed because teh US didn't like being told they couldn't fingerprint people on Canadian soil all willy nilly like they wanted to.

Good Grief it's a scan not an imprint or mug shot....If this is a concern then we should all hold up in the basement and never go outside again because your at about the same risk walking down the street...At red lights, in stores and just about everywhere else your being captured on video and they might zoom in on something about and hunt you down....What about the new red light cameras that capture your car and tag and what if someone working in that part of the traffic department sales the info they get by running your tag then they steal your identity or better yet come to your house....I know we need to protect ourselves but we live in a high tech world that requires high tell things such as biometrics to make it run more effiecently so everyting you do anymore is of risk...Mickey is not out to get us and take over our bodies and make us children of the corn......One word.....PROZAC

Last I heard this is a free society and as long as you're not breaking a law, go ahead. Exercise your options....

I heard a rumor that the finger scan was actually just a "soft opening" of sorts for a new ticket scanning protocol that will be in place in the undetermined future. Disney ultimately wants to implant a microchip underneath the skin of your right hand, to hold all of your personal information (hotel, ticket, and of course, personal, financial and criminal records as well) which would be scanned during entrance to the park. You could also link up the microchip to your Disney Visa card, and make all your Disney purchases with it. Once you go home, the microchip will still be in your hand, not only as a constant reminder of your magical time at WDW, but readily available for use on your next vacation, or when Disney takes over the planet and mandates that we all have them.
