Big Thunder says its down for refurbishment 5/4 until 5/22- wondering if anyone has seen these rides open earlier than expected- even if by a day or two- or are they pretty spot on with those dates?

It certainly is a possibility but they'll announce the date change if it happens. They're usually pretty spot-on

same ride was down for refurb during our November 2013 trip. it reopened the exact day it had been scheduled for. Day we were leaving and no FP+ so lines were crazy long.

Say what?! MDE allowed me to get BTMRR FPs for our March trip! (Nevermind.....just checked and found out the refurbishment begins May 5. The way OP's post read, it appeared to have already started.)

Good luck. My 9 year old DGD was too young to ride it her first trip. 2nd trip (November 2016) was closed for refurb and we did not have time to wait in line our last day. Trip this April, rumor was Big Thunder was going to be closed this trip too. Now it is due to close the week after our trip. She is so excited about this ride.

If a refurbishment did actually wrap up early would they announce that or would it just suddenly start running? We are at Epcot the day before test track is due to restart and of course we are hopeful for a happy surprise.

This actually did happen to us way back in 2013 when Haunted Mansion was supposed to be down for refurb for our whole trip and then we just noticed that is was open one day. I was way less of a researcher back then so I hadn't checked to see if that early opening date had been announced or not.
