I just got a groupon for a refirbished Nook tablet 8g for $75. My question would you buy a reburbished one? It would be for my DD12.

I've been debating on this deal all day. I was thinking of purchasing it for my son (11). He would mainly use it for games/internet - I can't wait to read other comments...

I purchased 3 refurbished nooks from Barnes and Noble last year for Christmas and they have been great. You couldn't even tell they were refurbished.

I am not sure who is selling the refurbished ones for your Groupon, but if they are manufacturer refurbished (not John Doe home refurbished!), I would have no problem with it.

I bought a refurbished original nook through B&N's ebay store. It came looking brand new and hasn't had any problems during the two years I've had it.

I've been thinking about this tablet deal. Anyone have a nook tablet? How is the app store? Do you have to use the B&N app store or are there other options like Google play or amazon app store?

I've had my refurbished one for almost a year and it has been great. I used this tutorial to root my Nook, so it is an android tablet. The rooting part goes on a memory card, so when you take the card out, it as a factory Nook. This enables me to get all the free android apps available on the market. You can still download the BN app, to get access to your books there. I use Kobo to buy books and Overdrive to check books out of the library.

I bought dh a refurbished nook from the b & n store on eBay last year with a square trade warranty and I am thinking I will get ds 8 a nook color off of there. It was on last night for 99.00 and 16.00 for 2 year square trade warranty.

Yeah, Netflix, Pandora, etc. I love my Nook color and with the memory card slot, you can expand the memory.

I was wondering this same question as I also got the email from Groupon about this, and DD11 and DS11 would love these....I think I am going to bite the bullet....

Thanks for the info. I've done similar things to other devices so it might be the way to go for me.

Apparently cow boom has some for $99. Its on slick deals. I've never bought from cow boom but they pop up on slick deals a lot.

I was really easy. I was worried I would mess it up, but since the operating system is only on the card, you can't mess up the tablet. You just take out the card, delete and try again. I haven't taken the card out and gone back to the factory Nook at all. I love all the free apps. B&N just didn't have much selection.
