Ok, so I haven't see any new Matterhorn reviews.
What are the new cars like and are there any noticeable changes to the ride??
Any info would be appreciated!!
:thumbsup2

I've heard the ride is virtually the same except with some new led lights in certain parts of the cave scenes. I have also heard the ride vehicles have little room for your legs. If your tall or have long legs your in for a painful ride.

I have seen many posts on mousewait confirming that there is not much leg room and the back seat is uncomfortable for larger people. :confused3

How scary is this ride? I HATE drops, but love BTMRR and Dinosaur at WDW. However, I refuse to get on Expedition Everest or Splash Mountain. I watched a video and it doesn't seem that bad - neither did Expedition Everest till I saw it in person! :scared1:

Thanks!

tefrench, the drops are one of the things that keep me off roller coasters.
I did not go on Splash for several years because I thought it would be scary.
I finally went and now it's one of my favorites -- nothing like a roller coaster at all.
I urge you -- do Splash -- you will love it.
Now if I could just get up the courage to do Screamin'.

BTMRR is much more intense than the Matterhorn. :) The thrill-factor for the Matterhorn comes from the theming and Yeti-ness, and a little speed in the turns as you shift left and right. This is a VERY mild coaster.

Hearing the same thing. A lot of people upset because they wanted the ride to be less bumpy but it has stayed pretty much the same.

We went on it last Friday and this Monday. The ride/track is the same. There is no leg room in the bobsleds. First time I rode, I was in the center seat. There is a place for your feet on the sides and you sit with your knees bent. Second time I was in the front. There seemed to be less leg room in the front despite it looking larger. There is no more padding on the seats. The seat sorta cradles your back and fits more snug. It is still bumpy (we were on the Tomorrowland side). Will have to try the Fantsyland side next time. This won't stop us from riding as it is still a favorite attraction.

Thanks for the encouragement about the Matterhorn - I'll try it on our trip in November! :thumbsup2

I felt like the Yeti growls were a lot louder when I rode last weekend.

I agree.

Other than the Yeti sounding a bit louder, the ride was pretty much the same for me.

I'm short, so I fit fine in the seats. I think tall people will have an issue, so I'm disappointed in that.

The seats have no padding, and so I felt every bump... still, I love this ride, especially at night. :)

what exactly qualifies as "tall"?
I'm 6'2", I assume I'll be having my legs smashed in... but that's just part of the fun :lmao:

I'm slightly dissapointed that you can't ride tandem anymore. :sad1:That was one of the things I loved and it was easier for my kids to ride it too knowing that mommy or daddy was holding onto them. I doubt my DS6 will be willing to ride alone.:confused3

We rode last weekend and I noticed some different lighting and a louder Yeti. The seats are small and not much leg room but I felt like I could brace myself better for the bumpy parts. My two kids, DD9 and DD6, loved the new seats and sitting by themselves! My brother, who is larger, was dissapointed that the seats are smaller and he doesn't think he'll be able to fit in the new seats. He's pretty sure he's had his last ride on the Matterhorn. My mom. who has mobilty issues. won't be able to ride anymore either. I don't think anyone who is larger will be happy with the new sleds.

Did your 6 year old buckle herself in? I'm just nervous about riding with my 5 yr old...especially after hearing stories in another thread about unbuckled seatbelts on other rides. I always check my kids belts myself on Soarin and ToT.

Leg room is a bit of a joke. I was sorely disappointed at this. It was as tight as Space Mountain maybe even more so for me. (I'm 6'4). The wife and I did single rider (this is a huge bonus if you want to ride this ride; very few people did it and it's kind of hidden and difficult to find) and waiting only about 8 minutes. We both commented that the Yeti seemed AWFULLY loud from what we remember. I thought the ride seemed slower (right side) and she seemed to think it was a bit faster, so I guess it must be faster, since she knows everything... ;)

Let me start by saying me and DH are both on the heavier side. Me being 5'2 and 270 and DH being 6'2 and about 265 also. The first time we rode on the new sleds we felt squished and tossed around like rag dolls. We were not happy with the ride at all and got off feeling sad. We decided to give it another shot the next day and changed our strategy. We were slouched in our seats the first time but the second time we made sure to sit up and back in the seats and it helped alot.

me too.:sad1: I loved being able to hold to my DSs on the ride.
