My wife and I are going to Disney World in a few weeks. Neither one of us is sick nor do we plan on getting sick, but I just got to wondering what happens if we do get a fever and are not able to enter the park? Do they offer refunds for the days they turn you away? I can't imagine paying for a ticket and then being refused entry and not getting your money back. Does anybody have any knowledge about how they handle these situations?

I have been wondering the same thing. A refund makes sense if they don't want people to mask symptoms with Tylenol. But they may not want to advertise a policy on this. Consider also whether you should get a refund if you are turned away at the airport.

I have had similar thoughts regarding ADRs. Do they waive the cancellation fee if you can’t get in? I have been waiting until I get in the park just in case, but that means pretty slim pickings as far as choices go.

Disney is willing to work with people. They won't advertise what they will do, but I bet they will rectify the situation.

Before this, I called the dining line and told them we had to cancel a reservation same day due to not feeling well (not contagious sick, but digestion issues). I bet they will not charge if you can't enter the park due to temp/illness. They are good about waiving the fee if you call.

Agreed. The last thing they want is you visiting their establishment anyways feeling sick because they refused to refund you. Puts everyone at risk. I bet they generally want a doctors note tho.

Well, I was at WDW for three days last week. The first day I got overheated going to the park and had to sit in the cooling tent for 15 minutes before they let me in. I had taken my temperature before I left the room and was fine, and I didn’t have to use the cooling tent the next two days. If they hadn’t let me in the first day, I wouldn’t have had a doctor’s note because I wasn’t sick. I just carry a few extra pounds and am a woman of a certain age, so I get overheated being outdoors in the summer.

This is my concern. I am ALWAYS hot now. Hot flashes, night sweats, all of it, I just run hot now. I went to visit my grandmother at the hospital a few weeks ago and ran hot, over 100 degrees. It was a hassle explaining to them that I am always hot.

For the resorts/packages, they are giving a no-questions-asked refund up to the day before, and tickets are being extended automatically so I think that should take care of most sickness cancellation needs. The main issue is what happens if you get sick while staying onsite. I wouldn't count on any kind of refund--I liken it to a quarantine on Disney cruise line. My DH was quarantined on our first Disney cruise when he came down with a fever the first night and missed the whole trip--and no refund from Disney. It's a kind of vacation-at-your-own-risk situation. Drives me nuts though because as others have noted, it really encourages people to cheat and just hide their symptoms with medication.

I think they definitely would. I have had them wave the cancellation fee pre-Covid when we couldn’t go to an ADR b/c someone got sick.

Once upon a time, we were at Disney with our dog (at Fort Wilderness). Our dog got an injury, and we had to rush to a local vet. When we returned to the campground, we showed the people at the Hoop Dee Doo Revue, our receipt from the vet, and they let us cancel our reservations for that evening. We did not want to leave our dog alone that night.

I'm sure they would. On HS reopening day, we cancelled Prime Time on the spot because the HS background music was so loud & my medically over-sensitive ears couldn't take it any more- we'd been there for a few hours and it was getting to be too much for me. I just told the CMs at check-in my problem, and after confirming with them that the restaurant also had non-quiet music playing inside, one of them cancelled our reservation, so I would not have to pay a fee. Then we quickly left the park.
