On the Universal site it mentions a "refreshment pantry" in the standard rooms. Is this a refrigerator? If not can you rent refrigerators for the standard rooms?

I think what that means is it is like a mini bar,
Which is a small frig filled with stuff you have to pay for so if ya take kids keep it locked cause the come with keys.:dance3:

yep...it's a mini-bar....you can use it, but they charge you a fee to 'empty' it

they will no longer empty the minibar, but they do have fridges avail for renting. I got this info from a manager at the HRH this week, so I know it is accurate.

I am able to get a fridge at no cost when I am Disney because I am on insulin..and it's for medical reasons. I've been told by Reservastions that it WOULD be free.(at RP) ..and then again...it WOULDN'T be free...and the cost would be $15.00 a day.

I plan to call again about a week before we leave to get the real scoop...because if they won't provide them at no cost for medical reasons...I'll bring a collapsible cooler and keep filling it with ice. :)

I have had a fridge for medical for years at the RPR and they have NEVER charged. I also booked this year 12-29 for four pms and they have gone up tremendously.

Last trip I emptied the mini bar.

Ok, not that way. Just took all the stuff out and put it on the counter above, then put it back in when I left. No worries or extra charges.

We did this too. However, I think the hotels are starting to catch on. On our last visit (last week), there was a note that said that you would be charged for any spoiled items if you chose to empty the minibar. So, we only emptied the sodas. :) BTW, I would like to say it may be hit or miss as to how cold your mini-frig is. Ours barely got our waters and sodas (and, OK, beer too) cold. I would never have drank the milk out of the minibar. We keep coolers in the room and fill them with ice. Much colder that way, if a bit inconvenient filling them with ice 2x/day.

We were at HRH a couple weeks ago, in a suite and were told it was 100 deposit to get the key to the minibar. They didn't offer a fridge for rent, but we didn't ask. This was one of my biggest complaints about the resort. To not have a fridge in a suite is silly.
