Hello all. I have a (hopefully quick) question about Pop Century. We will be there over Labor Day weekend and would like to have a refrigerator in our room to keep from messing with the cooler/ice. What are your suggestions? I know the Moderates and Luxuries have them in the rooms, but what is the latest word at Pop Century? Thanks.

You used to be able to rent one for $10 a day. I bet you'd get a more substantial answer if you asked over on the resort board?

Welcome to DIS, Red.

We were referredto A Baby's Best Friend by the resort. ABBF (www.abbf.com) is a rental service in Orlando, and now we use them every time we are there, they have so much stuff!

We have used their fridge, and it was perfect. Nice size, held A LOT of groceries, and was only 50 bucks for the week. I would almost go through that much in ice! It had a small freezer so we could freeze water bottles for the next day at the parks.

And the best part was ABBF delivered right to the luggage room and was waiting for us when we arrived. It is on it's own little rolling cart in a plain box, and the bell guy brought it up with our luggage. SWEET!

Have fun, and it's definately worth the $$ to have the fridge in your room.

According to a call I made to WDW about 2 months ago mini-fridges are in ALL rooms at ALL resorts now as a standard feature. :confused3

We had a basic room at Pop and it had a fridge and there was no extra charge. My friend is staying at the Pop in September and her confirmation letter says fridge at no charge.

We leave for Pop on 8/31. I just double checked my package and it doesn't say anything about a fridge being free (actually doesn't say anything about a fridge). Did anyone else get a confirmation letter with "free fridge" on it???

We're going to Pop in October and our confirmation says we requested a fridge and it reminds us that it's $10 per day.

Hmm...now I'm wondering if my friend isn't being "charged" when she goes next month because she is going on the free dining/vacation package and the cost of the fridge was figured into the total package price?? :confused3

But that theory doesn't account for why we haven't been charged in the past for a fridge at Pop? One time we never even requested one but instead stopped and bought a foam cooler and put our drinks/milk in it. The next night when we returned from the parks, we found a mini-fridge in our room and all of our drinks had been transferred into the fridge. It was a nice surprise and we were not charged.

And I'm still confused by the phone conversation with the cast member a few months back who said all rooms now have mini-fridges?? Maybe she was talking about the moderates? So many questions... :confused3

Sorry if I added to the confusion :rolleyes1

I know that they offer free fridges at the value hotels if you have a medical need (medicine, etc.). Perhaps that is why your friend has a free fridge.

We will be there in Sept. (one week!!!) and was told $10 a day.

I suspect that the cast member just saw your cooler and decided to do something nice for you. Pixie Dust!!! :wizard:

You may be right!! It was deeply appreciated too!

I did get clarification on my friends upcoming September "free dining" trip. Because she booked through Disneyworld and she selected a fridge with her standard room, the cost was just figured into the entire package. Because you don't see an actual itemized $$ break down of what each thing (room, tickets, meal plan) costs, it comes out on the invoice as included at "no charge". Makes sense now. Our past few stays were in moderates which automatially come with a fridge so I was out of the loop a little.

I hope they offer the free dining plan again next year so I can take advantage of it!

Thanks, everyone. I opted to go with A Baby's Best Friend. I checked their website and it is really informative, and when I called them with a couple of questions they were very nice and professional.
I really don't want to deal with the cooler/ice thing. Fifty bucks in the whole WDW picture is nothing compared to the convenience.

Thanks for all the input from everyone. :)

I don't know when you are going, but consider looking into a fridge swap... there are quite a few posted on the disboards. We are sharing with other POP people & our total price for the week is $8.

I considered it. . . briefly. Too much work/one more thing to hope lines up.

I'm in the service industry, and when I go on vacation I want to have things done for me as much as possible. I don't want to have to worry if it will actually be there.

With ABBF, their reputation is outstanding and from everything I have read/asked about them, their fridge will be waiting for me when I get there, Hakuna Matata style. :thumbsup2
As Pumba says: Ha-Ku-Na, Ma-Ta-Taaaa!

Thanks anyway for the sug.
