Ok, I've got the .50 - $2 per bag down, but who get's it? The person who takes the bags out of the trunk or the person who brings them to the room? The person who takes them from the room to storage or the person who puts them in the trunk?

The bellman who delievers your bags to your room is the one that is "suppose" to be tipped.

I usually tip the last person who touches my bags. On the way in that's the person who delivers it to my door. On the way out it's the person who puts it in my trunk. Some people tip both people both ways. Sometimes I'll tip the first person to touch my bags a token amount, like $2.

We tip the person who takes our bags out of the car and the person who brings them to our room later.

Thanks for the information! After getting home and doing the math, we spent $80 on bellman tips! (for 5 bags) I started tipping anyone who touched our bags after I got an evil look from a bellman that took our bags from the room to storage. I didn't think he was supposed to get the tip, but after that look, I made sure I found him when we came back for the bags. I thought that you tip the person that brings the bags to you. (ie, the bellman that delivers to the room or the bellman that brings the bags to the car)

This is just my resolution to this problem.. To many people touch the bags....

I tip $1.00 per person (usually 4 of us traveling with 2 bags each) to each person who handles the bags.

$4.00 to the person who takes the bags from the car.
$4.00 to the person who brings them to my room.
$4.00 to the person who gets them from our room.
$4.00 to the person who brings them to my car.
_________
$16.00 total - about the same as $2.00 per bag each way if only 1 person touched them..

Thanks for the FABULOUS Formula, TREKKER. As much as we travel and as long as we stay, we are forever tipping bellman, Valet and the like. I was always tipping EACH person $1 per bag, and we have three bags each (X3). SO, it was $9 from the car to inside the resort, $9 to the room...and vice-versa. AT EACH RESORT WE STAY...(w/exception to VERO BEACH RESORT where you take the beautiful Brass cart to your vehicle in the underground parking, and load your luggage...stroll to the elevator, and right up to your room! Excellent!--You have to visit this place!)...obviously TOO MUCH TIPPING going on. Your formula is very sensible and reasonable, and everyone is rewarded for their contribution to the transport of your luggage. Thanks again. ;)

At the Wilderness Lodge this September, as the bellman was taking our bags to storage he said, "You know, I'm not the same person who will be bringing the bags to your room..." He might as well have been holding his hand out and rubbing 2 fingers together in that funny gesture from the movies. I thought they only did things like that in Vegas, not Disney World.
