Refillable Mugs?

My husband and I are going to WDW with our 4 yr old and 17 mth old at the end of November. It's been years since we've been and have found these forums to be very helpful in the in's and out's of Disney.

My question is with the Refillable Mugs. Do you know how much they are? Also, I have read quite a bit in the forum about this but still am racking my brain to completely get it....

We will buy 3 mugs as the little one doesn't need any soft drink or whatnot. As I seem to understand, the mugs only work where you buy them?

I'd like to be able to fill mine with coffee in the morning when we head off to the parks, but of course will want to fill it up again during the day - that is the point, right?.... So if I can't refill it until I return to the resort at the end of the day, I don't get the benefit. Yes, you get to refill every morning or say night before bed, but that still leaves us thirsty during the day!....

Am I missing something?

Your help is appreciated.

You have it correctly only can be refilled at your resort. They cost 11.99 now plus tax.

Well that's a bummer!

So do you need to get another one that you can use during the day - say at MK?

We just got back from Boardwalk Villas, where we paid $12 each for the refillable mugs. Was it worth it? For us it was, because we spent a couple days at the resort, and had several meals in the Boardwalk area. So it was worth running up to the room to get the mugs. When they charge $2 for a drink, it adds up pretty quickly. I'm pretty sure you can't fill them with coffee. I think it's only pop. The weird thing is that the CM's aren't allowed to handle the mugs, so instead, you show them the mug and they give you a drink in a cup. What a waste of their money to be giving out all those cups. It seems like it would make more sense to sell a wristband that was good for free drinks. Anyway, we could get them "refilled" at the bakery, Spoodles walk-up window and at the poolside bar. I hope this helps with your decision. Have a great time!

We were able to fill our mugs with coffee, hot chocolate, soda, and apple juice. I saw someone filling theirs with one of those slushy drinks, but I'm not sure if that's something you're allowed to do.

As far as what mckymama said, I know ath CR we were able to refill our own mugs, we didn't have to have someone else do it for us.

It was worth it for us, we didn't spent every day all day at the parks, so we used them in the morning and then in the afternoons when we returned and again during the evening while waiting for the fireworks.

Yikes, no coffee? Hmmm.... I was thinking I was going to be needing a lot of it on this trip! :-)

Any idea if there are Starbucks at the parks?

Does anyone know if it is only soft drinks? My 4 year old drinks, water, juice, milk, but no sodas.....

We'll be staying at CBR which as I understand it, is rather far from the parks. We might make our way back in the afternoon for the little one to take a nap, but I did want to know how it all works so that should we spend the whole day I know what I can and cannot do.

Your choices are dependent upon which resort you are staying at. For example, at All Stars you may only get coffee, tea and soda. At a deluxe resort you may also get slushies, milk, juice, etc.

I've never heard of not being able to fill them with coffee. Either that's new or maybe not quite right. ;)

There are no Starbucks on WDW property.

I am not a coffee drinker but I see a lot of complaints about the Nescafe coffee.

You wouldn't have any idea about CBR would you? As to what is offered? I could call them, but thought I'd check with you first.

On the same topic, and yet a little off course, do you know if you can get **** milk in the restaurants and food courts? My little one drinks full fat milk and I'd rather not mess with that for a full week.

oops that's funny..... the **** before the word milk was a four letter abbreviation for homogenized and it got cut
oops

Can we buy a refillable mug at MK? Any place we can do so and be able to get milk or juice?

The mugs are refillable with soda, iced tea, coffee, hot cocoa, lemonade, and some places have Slushy's too! It all depends on where you're staying...POP had all and slushy, Beach club didn't have the slushy and also didn't have lemon for the iced tea. Going to VWL on january...I'll let you all know what they have/haven't got when I get back! Most of the time its a fill your own stand...I haven't run into having the CM's fill them...oh CSR also had everything.

We're staying at CBR at the end of November - We had wanted to book with CSR but it was all booked up.

Regular soft drinks, coffee, tea is offered at CBR. No juice.

We just came back from CBR.. Soda, coffee, tea is offered. There IS apple juice available (in the soda machine) - also hot chocolate is available.

We were just there. They other tip - If you are on dining plan, you get a drink with your meals. We used the refillable cups, then picked up juice boxes as our drinks to go. This worked great.

There's no Starbucks at the parks, but the Dolphin for sure, and I think the Swan serve Starbucks coffee.

I guess I'm wrong about the coffee. Sorry about that. I don't drink coffee, so it was just a guess. I also figured out why we had to have CM's give us cups. There is no food court at BWV, so there's no drink station where we could refill our own. We just tried to hand it to someone at the bakery, and they're not allowed to take them. I'm guessing it's a Board of Health issue. My DS13 asked the man in the bakery to fill it with chocolate milk, but he wouldn't do it. He said it had to be pop. That's probably because that's what they have "on tap." It looks like the different resorts have very different policies. I guess you can check into it when you get there. I'm pretty sure there aren't any refillable mugs at MK.

When we were at AKL in July, we were able to fill the cups with anything in the self serve area of the food court. I was worth the price to us because we came back to the room early everyday and spent time at the resort.
