::MickeyMo We bought refillable mugs for the first time in May. Can you bring them back and use them even if you're at a different resort? ::MinnieMo

You're not even supposed to use them on a different trip at the same resort.....(or so I've heard on these boards ;) )

but... they have no way of knowing unless they have changed the look of the mugs. We brought mugs to WL that we bought last year. We were only staying 2 nights there and didn't see the need to buy new ones. We then moved to POR and bought new ones there....

::MickeyMo That stinks. I'm going to have a bazillion mugs that I obviously won't throw away, but are too big to use at home. Man oh man. Thanks for the info. The only reason I asked was because when we stayed at Pop we saw people with mugs from POR and All Stars. I was wondering if it was "legal". ::MinnieMo

"legal" - no not really, IMO it's more like the old saying... "Don't ask, don't tell"

if you are going to bring back your mug, just don't mention it on the DIS, don't ask anyone's opinion, don't ask if it's right or wrong, don't take a picture of yourself holding said mug, don't look guilty, don't ask a CM if it's OK, don't skulk around the beverage station, and for heaven's sakes when you fill up your mug... don't wear lime green anything!

:)

We just returned today from a stay at the Pop and I also saw many All Star mugs and PO mugs and even old Dixie Landings mugs. I also saw a woman filling a soda bottle with the fountain drinks. In all my many, many trips I have never seen anyone called out for using a different resort mug.
I try to not let it bother me, but down deep I can't believe people would think it was o.k. to do. :confused3

::MickeyMo LoL. Nah. I'm not going to do it. I'd feel guilty.

But did you know that the money Disney makes from Coca Cola sales is enough to pay their employees? :earseek: Pretty crazy right? ::MinnieMo

::MickeyMo Since it was our first time buying them, I really didn't know if it was allowed or not so of course I'm going to ask the greatest source on the internet! I thought maybe it was okay that they were doing it because I never saw a sign or anything saying the "rules for refillable mugs." But something just didn't seem right. ::MinnieMo

They probably might stop you. But I saw a few women with their personal cups just walk up and no one said a word.

Refillable mugs are valid for the duration of the visit during which they're purchased, at the resort they're purchased. Disney typically relies on the integrity of its guests to comply.

They are slowly changing the prints on mugs so that mugs bought previously are a little easier to spot. It hasn't happened at all resorts but we have noticed it happening at three to four so far.

That's true....however, at my last stay at POR, in June, I saw at least 15 of the DxL style mugs in use at the food court. I have seen many mugs being used at different refill spots that were not bought where they were being refilled. All my mugs from my trips in the last 4 years have wording on them to the effect that refills are for the lenght of this stay and at the place it was purchased. Now, have I ever seen anyone being stopped for using an 'inappropriate' mug? Never. Not a word said to those people filling up their McD cups from the world series, or soda bottles.
So, would I bring back a mug to reuse on a different trip? I used to say it would never happen. However, I do have a BC mug that was used all of 4 times last June. I think I will bring it back with me in Nov for my morning coffee. At least it's at the same resort and the design should still be the same. Completely honest and according to the 'stated WDW rule'? No.

Unfortunately, there are people who do know the rules and that many CMs are too nice or timid to say anything to them. I wouldn't want to be the one guest called out for ignoring the posted signs, that's for sure. But I would probably get a good snicker out of seeing someone reprimanded. Now that's magic! :wizard:

I just follow the rules. If you choose to reuse your mugs, so be it. Don't think you won't get an evil glare from me though! Not as strong of a glare as when someone cuts me in line, but a slight glare.

Personally I like having multiple mugs for use at home and work. :yo-yo:

:rotfl: I thought this was going to be a joke. ;) We should have a Topics to Avoid sticky on all of the forums!!!

People get so cranky of this topic.

we were at WL in august and they sell the skinny mugs. we saw so many people using the older model which is the wider ones that most resorts have. i actually asked the person behind me in line when i was at the check out counter at roaring forks if he bought that on this trip, and right in front of the CM he told me he got it when he was there for christmas. the cm could have cared less despite the fact that it says it on the mug to be only used on that trip. also saw lots of BC mugs. i dont think it is as big a deal as some make it out to be but that is my opinion and im sure ill get blasted for it.

The only time I've been asked about a mug was actually at the Beach Club. There at Beaches n Cream they asked for my resort ID each time to fill up the mug. So it might be a little more difficult to get away with it there. I don't know if they checked to see if I had purchased a mug on my account, but that probably wouldn't be a reliable way to check, as some people might have purchased it with cash. I bet what happens is, they get a lot of people walk over from Epcot to fill up a mug each time they visit Epcot, so they're trying to have it be only for BC/BCV guests.
