Refillable Mugs

Hi There --

As a relatively newcomer to these boards, I have a question on refillable mugs. In particular, how long do they last? I am planning to take the family down for a series of four day trips in Sept, Mar 06, and Sept 06 and wanted to know if I can use the mugs for all trips. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!!!!!

this is a very touchy subject on these boards. The newer mugs that are sold now are for your lenght of stay at that resort only. Years ago (many, many) the mugs were suppose to be forever. The policy has changed.

As stated above this is a very hot topic.

I haven't found the mugs to be as useful because I usually head to the food court on my way to the bus stop and I don't want to carry them around all day with me. Or, I come through the food court on the way back to the room from the parks all day and alas- no mug in hand. I'm usually too tired to go back to the room and get it and make another trip to the food court.

If you don't mind going to you room to either drop them off or pick them up, they can be a good deal.

Or if you are hanging around the pool then they are great. I usually do a grocery store stop for pop, beer and water so we are good to go!

The best suggestion would be to ask when you purchase them to see what response you get from the CM's.

A few years ago you could take your mugs back & buy a "refill sticker" it was a sticker with a bar code on it for (I think) $5.00 and you could use the mugs for the next visit.

We did it at Typhoon Lagoon.

If you want to know how well they last, as in durability, they are pretty hearty.

I'm actually sitting at work drinking out of one right now from a year ago. I use it at least five days a week. There are a few scratches on the graphic, because usually I stick it in a backpack on the way home, but it is still in great condition after all that use.

I was surprised, because I feared the snap-on cover would be the first to go, but it still works great.

As to the issue of reusing mugs...that's a personal decision. Some people would chastize me for it, but I have reused my mug on several trips - I am an AP holder (single male) and spend about $10K a year at WDW (crazy but true) which doesn't make me feel entitled to it but coversely don't feel guilty either. I buy about one new one a year. It's definately a personal choice.

No flames please. If you are staying at the same resort for all the trips, then use them. As long as the mug has the resort logo, no one will bother you.

The mugs say right on the "Good only at the location purchased during the stay purchased". I'm thinking there was also a sign saying the same thing at the mug refill station at ASMovies but I can't remember for sure.
