Now there's a good idea. Can I appoint myself Sheriff or should we hold an election?

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Before I'll vote for you I need to know how you feel about towel animals and rolling backpacks!

You know...although we have to put up with the never-ending mug debates, and the rolling backpack debates and the tipping debates and the how many guests in a room debates, you've got to appreciate how laid back the moderators are on this site. I've been on message boards that, in the rules, you must 1st go to the Introductions board, say hi personally to every poster on the board, learn the secret code by reading pg. 856 of one of the Harry Potter books, jump through a ring of fire, run the gauntlet of terror, do all of the moderators laundry for 2 weeks, and on and on....and then, they smack you down if you step an inch off course or bend the rules!
The DIS moderators really take a hands off approach and allow quite a bit of lattitude on this board which makes it so much fun and one of the more popular boards that I have seen.
So we put up with the never ending, same old same old sometimes. It's worth it to have such a fun and fantastic resource for all things WDW ::MickeyMo !

When we were there in January we did a split stay at WL and AKL. I told them at the AKL we had moved from the WL to AKL that day and asked if we could use the WL mugs since it was the same visit. The lady at Mara's was very nice and called somebody. She then very apologetically told us no, that the mugs were only good at the resorts they had been bought at and we would need to purchase AKL ones. Since we were only going to be there for two nights, we chose not to and simply purchased a soda.

We were going to do the exact same thing. During our stay at the AKL, which would only be for two days, we were going to ask a CM before we puchased it if the mugs would be good at our next resort. If they said no, we would only buy oneat AKL, to add to our ever growing collection, and then buy four for our longer stay (7 nights) at CSL.

Our intent is to be totally honest in the use of the mugs. We do not want something for nothing or go against Disney policy. BUT WHAT IS DISNEY POLICY????????....No one, not even the CM's seem to know for sure.

What is the debate for rolling backpacks and towel animals? :flower:

I am new to posting on the board and am so surprised with how MAD people get about this topic. Are they just sick of people asking about refillable mugs? Are they against saving money? I'm not judging, just wondering. What is it that gets everyone so sarcastic?

Oh, I think the monitors on the AOL Disney travel boards were the most hands off. I usually find this board extremely refreshing with the posters so fun and kind for the most part. Most seem pretty tolerant if someone has a different opinion. And while it HAS gotten much better on aol, it used to be that there were about a dozen regulars that seemed to control the board rather than the rarely seen monitor. NO ONE was able to have a bad experience at a Disney resort without big flaming threads starting after. One time an unsuspecting man came back from AKL and had a so-so trip...boy, did he list his disappointments in the wrong place. I think that thread was about 300 posts long before it was removed. The OP kept coming back to defend his post and the regs kept letting him have it. A monitor finally pulled the whole thing. I was a lurker who was inexplicably interested in following it :earseek: I felt so sorry for him!

My impression is that people like to imagine an objective world because it makes it seem more controllable and safe. Value, as we've seen, however, is sooooo subjective.

I'm always amazed at how obssessed some people are with what other people do on their vacation. I'm usually going to follow the rules but if other people don't - who cares? I've honestly never noticed anyone filling up the wrong mug - I suspect that would be because I've never looked! :rotfl:

LOL! These Mug Threads are really getting old. Why does everyone care so much about these darn plastic cups? If you are spending thousands of dollars on a Disney World vacation, buying soda or not buying soda is not going to make or break you. If you buy a mug and use it, GREAT! If you don't buy a mug, WONDERFUL! If you bring a mug from past WDW trips, LOVELY! If you use a Universal mug at GF, Who Cares! I certainly do not... Do whatever makes your trip more magical.... except jump in front of me in LINE!!!! :earboy2: :earboy2: (If we were to complain about something, line jumping seems like a much more important issue IMHO... afterall time IS money at WDW!!! :rotfl: )

Ya know, once we saw someone refilling a POR refillable mug at all-stars music. Well, we tackled this poor soul, tied them to the vending area and had them hold a sign that said "I refilled an illegal mug....you may stick your tongue out at me"..

This is tooo funny. Ok have we beat this one up enough? How about:

1. when you are eating in an outside eating area and someone stands right beside you....waiting for you to get done so they can have the table.
2. Cutting in line
3. waiting for the parade, you are standing behind people sitting down also waiting for the parade...then as parade approaches, they stand up and they are 12' tall.
4. Did I say cutting in line?
5. Watching people plowing through a crowd...bumping and shoving to get to the spot they want.
6. Telling someone you are going to WDW and they say "AGAIN?....WHY?"

:rotfl:

I do think that many -especially posters on this board worry more about the mug thing then Disney themselves do!

The problem with a sticky thread is most people don't bother to read them before they post on these subjects.

Have we tried this already? If not we should. And anyone who wants to know about it, we should just refer them to that "sticky thread" if they didn't see that thread. And there should be no reason anyone needs to debate or even resonpnse, the OP will get the answer at the top of the page. That's it.

But how much fun would that be!?

Oh goody! Another one!!

I had to flame my DD this morning. I was drinking coffee using my ASMu mug and she said that we have to be sure and get my mom and neice a mug when we get to WDW because she and I can just take ours back. I set her straight very quickly! ;)

I just dont understand how some people can get so sarcastic about questions people ask. Isnt that what these boards are for, to ask questions and find out information? Maybe when a question is posted that you have seen a dozen times its because the person is new or does not spend alot of time on the boards.
If you see a question about mugs or rolling backpacks or smokers, why dont you just move on to another thread if it bothers you so much? :confused3

Here Here Cricket429!!! Thank you for posting exactly what I was thinking!!!

:flower: Can't we all just be Happy??!!! :flower:

Exactly. I feel sorry for the newbies or anyone who really don't know the policy of this refill mugs. And sometime the thread gets ugly and the moderator ends up closing the thread. Simple question should get simple answer without anyone getting flamed nor anyone should get sarcastic. I think there should be a "sticky thread" on this subject and in bold letters.
::THE REFILLABLE-MUG POLICY:: ...And be done with it.

You said it......now....what was the subject???? I guess I don't look at it as being so sarcastic, or getting ugly in a sense, but having a little fun with a pretty simple subject. Honestly, and let's try to be honest here, when you get a drink at Wendy's or Mcdonald's, do you feel you have the "right" to go back on your next visit and refill your drink with the cup you purchased a day or even a week before? I bet some do, but honestly, common sense tells you that once you leave the parks and go home, your refillable mug has just become a very nice souvenir. After all, while you are spending $1000's and $1000's of dollars on vacation at WDW, another $11.95 (or whatever they cost now) "should" make a difference. I kind of like getting one everytime we go....cheap souvenir and one that can be used for a long time. :earboy2:

oops....I meant it "shouldn't" make a difference! Ok, I'll go to my room now. :rolleyes1

All I'm saying is that not everyone has been to Disney 20 or 30 times, not everyone knows all the ins and outs, not everyone knows how to search out previous threads to have their questions answered. Thats why they ask. Sometimes I am almost afraid to post a question because I have been made to feel like the question was stupid (not said in words but implied) or had been posted so many times, it wasnt worth answering.
I do greatly appreciate all of the information and wonderful help I have received on these boards and could not imagine going to Disney for our first trip with it. I just want other people to get the same help without getting turned off by some of the comments. Everyone deserves Disney magic :sunny:
