Can anyone explain how the refillable mugs work? If I buy one at FW can I refill it at any resort? Can it be refilled at the Parks? Can I use it for the length of our stay?

You will probably hear from a number of posters with their interpretations of Disney's rules, but officially the mugs are available at FW, they are only good at the resort you purchase them at, they can only be used for the length of your stay, and they cannot be used at the parks. Refill areas at FW are the Meadows trading post for coffee and tea, and Trail's End for coffee, tea and soft drinks.

Is the refill station at Trail's End now self-serve? I think I've heard that recently. Also, Allears says that there is a self-serve refill area at the pool??? (Allears also said that you could refill soft drinks at the Meadows, so I think there is some lack of info or general confusion so I wasn't quite trusting the rest of the statement about refills at FW. Usually Allears is great, but missed this one....)

The pool snackbar is open seasonally, so it depends on when you are at FW. Last year TE made the refill station self serve. Thank you, Disney! No soft drinks at the Meadows trading post.

We were there in May and used the mug for refills at the Meadows Swimming Pool. Like posted before, the snack bar at the pool is open seasonally.

We did get coffee at the Meadows trading post, but did not see a soft drink fountain.

Hope this did not confuse anyone.

I'll get attacked for this one! Many, many people use the mug year after year. No one seems to care. There may be an official policy, but unofficially, old mugs, as well as mugs from Wilderness Lodge, seem to be welcomed at the beverage serving areas. I'm not going to say what I do but I bet I know what you do if you have an older mug! Hey, what's a few pennies worth of beverages going to do to Disney's bottom line? I've yet to find a motel that doesn't offer free coffee to guests, and most offer breakfast.

We use our all star mugs from 1996 every visit we go back we were expressly told back then that the mugs were good for evernow the policy has changed with the new mugs etc but I feel our mugs fall under the old rule any new mugs are used only for that stay at whatever resort we are at.

I'm pretty sure that the OP wanted to know how the mugs worked now, not how they were in the past or what your personal interpretation of the current rules are.

Hang on, gotta grab the popcorn for this one. :stir:

Arent these refillable mug posts predictable? :happytv:

The reality is, the policy I stated is Disney's policy re. refillable mugs. Whether one chooses to follow the rules is one's own decision. The OP wanted to know the rules, and I stated them.

I thought they had switched to a bar code on the mugs, or is that only at the water parks?

I believe that was only at the water parks and never quite made it to the resorts, but I may be wrong.

The official policy has been stated (good for length of stay, only at resort purchased, not good at parks). So, since the OP's question has been answered I'm going to close this thread.

Have a great day everyone! :wave2:
