Refillable mugs

I have a question about the refillable mugs that you can get at the parks. Once you buy the mug, can you refill it at any of the parks or only at the park where you bought it?

TIA

The only refillable mugs I'm aware of are the ones sold at the resorts. ( which can only be used at the resort where you bought them ) As far as I know, the theme parks don't offer refillable mugs.

Animal Kingdom has a refillable bottle, but the refills are not free, and they're only good for the day you buy them. (at least last time I checked)

Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure have refillable mugs/cups that you can buy in the parks and refill in either park (they may not be refilled at the resorts). WDW only has refillable mugs for each resort (that may not be refilled at the parks). With the exception of AK that was previously mentioned. :sunny:

we used our ak cups more than one day no one ever told us not to.
They are just kinda big to carry all day

Thanks for clearing me up. I was under the impression that the mugs were from the parks, not the resorts. I guess it's always worth asking about!

The water parks sell a one day refillable mug. Then you can bring it back on future trip, buy the sticker and get refills for that day also. We've been bringing our TL mug back for about 5 years. We had to peel all the stickers off because they were getting stuck on each other. When you get the new sticker they put in on right over the old one.

We got mugs from Movies and Music and have been refilling them and using them ever since and then we got one from Pop, no one has ever said anything to us about it.

That's because they probably expect you to be responsible and fair about your initial purchase, not scam the system because you can.

I just think people who reuse their mugs, when we all know you aren't supposed to, are just plain CHEAP. Plus, where else in life do you cheat?

WOW! Isn't that a little harsh...I mean we're talking about soda here, not a person's daily life.

Refillable Mugs are a touchy subject here. I for one believe you can use your mug all you want DURING your resort stay. Then, use it at home. I use mine all the time. It makes me smile! Next time you come back, digg a little deeper into those pockets and buy another mug. Sorry! I'm not a rule breaker. I did see some people using the fat WL mugs this time. Cheaters!!!

Cheating is cheating. Whether it's a little or a lot. Sorry if you don't like that fact of life.

But not if they didn't know the rules. Now they know; so next time it will be cheating. :sunny:

And before you fuss at me too LOL, no I would not refill a mug I didn't buy that visit because now I know the rules thanks to DIS boards. :teeth:

Agreed! However, Darth Sidious seems to be a little new here, with only 49 posts so I was giving them the benefit of the doubt that maybe they didn't know that mugs can't be refilled once your stay is over. I just think if someone replied to me in the manner that you replied I would be a little turned off of these boards and questioning the way someone lives seems a little extreme to me. Just my opinion!

I know I'll get torched with a flame thrower here, :furious: but what if the mug purchaser only used it for say one or 2 refills during their stay? I would think I'd like to get a little more for the money I spent on the mug on my next trip.

I am not a mug re-user! I like purchasing new ones as souven"ears" for my trip collections.

I don't want the big mug taking up unneccessary space in my suitcase for travelling on my way to The World. I am just looking at this from a different point of view. There are way many more people out there who abuse the mug service than will ever admit to it, compared to persons who buy the mug and not get their money's worth. How often do you walk around your resorts and sneer at the people who dump a full mug out in the bushes because it's not the drink they wanted(children and adults alike), or they were just taste testing the different options available by half filling the mug and spilling the rest out? Would you flame them on the spot? Doubtful.

Bring on the cussing and slashing now. I have it coming. I just stated a different view of the wasting that goes on every day at the resorts. :stir:

Hey my first time posting on a mug thread! I usually lurk on this topic but what the heck. This is one of those unenforced rules. CM's are generally too busy to care or notice if somebody is using an illegal mug and to my knowledge there are no mug police employed by the resorts. Also, some cm's are receivers of bad info, I have heard folks on this board who tell tales of cm's telling them to reuse the mugs, that its fine to do so. They are wrong. Or maybe that comes from disgruntled employees looking to stick it their employer :confused3 . It sounds like you didn't know about this rule, now you do and I am betting you do the right thing! For me, I would feel a bit cheap and weird using a contraband mug. I know some justify this due to the high cost Disney charges for food and beverage and hope to even the score. But that doesn't make it right.

Sorry, no flame, just logic. Anyone buying a mug knows how long they are staying at that resort before they buy it and can figure out if a refillable mug makes sense. Your example is like someone paying for an all-you-can-eat buffet when they know they just ate a big meal yet expecting to come back the next day and eat because they didn't get their money's worth the first day! :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2:

Who says thats the official rule? We fill up mugs at Trails that are older than half the servers. I enjoy seeing the older styles.

I know at one time they had mugs in the parks you could buy and get discounted drinks but I haven't seen any recently. We have a few of those mugs scattered in our house.

Well, because at most places it's posted and the mugs actually say...refillabe only at location puchased free refills ony until the end of your stay. At least that's what the one I'm drinking from right now says. I have a huge collection of them...going back to DxL in '99. The mugs from DxL are the only ones that don't have that info on the side.
There are those with these 'older' mugs that were told way back when by the CM's, that the mugs are good forever. But, I would think that they would be good forever only at that particular resort. I have never brought my DxL mugs back, although I have stayed there several times since '99.
I did bring my Pop mug back in Dec...I bought it in august and used it for 4 nights. When I went in Dec I was there for just one night and didn't want to buy another one for just that one dinner and coffee the next morning. Was it right? No......and I won't be doing it again. For crying out loud, you are spending thousands of dollars on a vacation in WDW...what is the big deal with buying a few $12 mugs each time?? If it's going to be a hardship, then forgo one tee-shirt for each person...that will make up for the cost of a coffee mug.
The rules are posted, the rules are on the mugs themselves. People will do what they feel is right. It's obvious what is right (yes, I was wrong!!!)...it doesn't matter whether or not you get 'caught' or if the CM's care one way or another about what you are doing.
