Refillable mugs Yes Again

I have at least a dozen of these mugs from the CR, CS, and the POR. We use our really old ones as pen and pencil cups at home.

However, no one at the resorts is going to bother you if you re-use old ones. And, I for one am glad that's the way it is. When I go to WDW, I don't want to hear either CMs or fellow guests chastising other guests for using old mugs. :D

We are staying at the WL Villas in February and are interested in buying the refillable mugs. Where do you fill up the mugs at WL? We have never stayed there before, so we are not familiar with the layout of the hotel. If the refilling place is far from the Villas, we may opt not to buy the mugs.

Thanks for your help!

I have never encounter a CM who had a "problem" with you reusing your mug from a previous visit at the same resort. ::MickeyMo

You refill the WL mugs at Roaring Forks - the snack bar. I think it's pretty easy to get to but might be a little walk from the Villas.

I just love the mugs! By all means get at least one from each resort and share. If it turns out you need another one - get one. I'm drinking water out of my WL mug right now. It's tres cool because the lid has a slider that closes it in case you have to take it with you. Love it!

we bought mugs in april 2002 at the WL when we stayed in the villas. it's not such a long walk to the roaring fork to fill them up it's actually nice to just enjoy the surroundings as you stroll there. we just returned this week from the VWL again and were anxious to buy the mugs and we were surprised to find that they are the same as in 2002. bought them anyway and filled them numerous times during our trip. now we have 8 WL mugs along with many from ASMo, ASM, DL(now PORS), PORS and GF. nice souvineers. i think i spelled that wrong.

When we bought our first mugs at Beach Club back in 2000 I think. The mugs were in the rooms and they were wrapped in plastic. There was a sticker on the plastic wrapper that said Lifetime refills. I wish I would have saved that sticker, but for all those people who keep saying the policy was always length of stay, that is not true for at least the Beach Club mugs that were sold that year.

I have since bought many mugs from several different resorts and I don't use mugs from one resort at another. I love using the mugs here at home!

I guess Disney should have put a disclaimer on the sticker that read, "Terms subject to change without notice."

I'd just like to make a request, especially to those who have mugs from numerous resorts. If you could take a picture of your mug collection and post it, I'm sure there would be lots of people who would be grateful.:D

I'd love to know what all the mugs from all the resorts I've not been to, look like.

We have 2 mugs from DL from 1998 and the picture is almost totally worn off! Last year we bought 4 mugs from CS, and this year only my DH got the tall cup type mug from the Dolphin. The design on the Dolphin mug is not too exciting, just photos of the hotel, and since I don't drink coffee, I didn't bother getting one.

I would get them at POFQ, it will be easier to use them there. As to the BW it is not set up as easy since there is no Food Court.

As to the official policy, as stated it is now: the mug is only good for the length of your stay at that resort".

As to enforcement of the policy, it is the "honor" policy.

Do you think it is cost worthy to buy for three days. And dare I ask if I can use the POFQ at the BWV since it is the same trip.

What do you think?

Thanks! [/B]

We normally split our stays during the same trip because we like to experience the parks from different vantage points and have trouble deciding between some of our very favorite resorts ::MickeyMo

Usually, we end up buying the different mugs, and I have about a dozen in the cabinet right now :). They make great commuter mugs and always remind me of our great trips.

The only times we've used a mug from one resort at another (during the same trip) is after I've received an okay at check-in that this was okay. I've never used them that way w/o permission from the manager, and we've never used old mugs from previous trips--we always buy them at at least one resort during a stay. From my experience, I've always been told its okay to buy a mug at one resort and use it for the entire week, whether or not you stay at that resort or switch to a different one. If a manager we're to tell me their hotel did not subscribe to this policy, I would not do it.

We love Disney!!! :)

Terry R,

I checked and double-checked with all resort CMs before buying our mugs. We have two each of the WL, BW, Poly, and CSR mugs from previous WDW vacations and we were assured that they were good for free refills on all future trips. The CM at WL went on and on pledging they would be honored FOREVER and we all enjoyed his theatrics. I do not feel guilty using our mugs when we go to WDW because at the time of purchase their policy was different.

We also have 3 Swan/Dolphin mugs but we didn't ask about their policy, we assumed.

We have NEVER had a problem using our mugs when we return to these properties and I use them with a clear conscience.
:D

Unfortunately through experience many of us have learned that some CM's are unaware of WDW's rules, policies, and much more. Then based on their lack of knowledge, they provide inaccurate information to guests.

I received a "tips" mailing from WDW for my upcoming trip. It states the following: "P.S. At the beginning of your stay, stop by our Intermission Food Court and purchase a refillable mug. That way, you'll enjoy free soft drinks at our food court through the length of your stay."

While the WDW policy on refillable mugs in the past may have been unclear to those who didn't see the signs hanging in food courts, it is obvious that they are trying to make all guests aware of the current policy.

To me, it should be clear beyond any reasonable person's doubt, that the policy as is currently defined, limits the use of a refillable mug for the "current" length of stay.

If I had received the letter you posted previous to any of my trips I would agree with you but since I didn't, I'll continue to use the mugs I purchased when I stay at those properties.

We will observe the new policy when we purchase new mugs!!
That will be when we stay at the CR in 24 days!

the last time we were there..i couldnt tell you how many different mugs we saw being used and no one was saying anything to anyone.....we have our mugs from pop century and we are going back to pop century and they are going with us....you spend thousands of dollars on your trip...and if they are gonna make a big hoot about a soda...well then i would deal with that then.....i dont think you have anything to worry about...

Just got back from All Star Movies and Music: at both locations the mugs have changed this year. At Music the design on the outside of the mug is totally changed. At Movies the design is the same however the colour (there is a u in Canada) has changed.
As for cost effectiveness: if you have five drinks over the course of your stay, it is cost effective. Plus the thrill of having it a home--is priceless.
As for usage: I even saw people using 7-11 mugs, the CM's just seem to ignor usage at the soda dispensers.
If you are not going to follow the rules about usage: buy the $2.99 mug from one of the parks. It works just as well and saves $8.00

Many people keep saying that the mugs have "ALWAYS" said length of stay. They have always been only for the individual resorts where they were purchased, but they were not always limited to length of stay. I purchased mugs the first year Dixie Landings was opened, they were just refillable at DL but good on that trip and future ones. We purchased mugs at ASSp the first year they were opened. Again only available for use at All Star resorts, but there was never a sign saying length of stay. I think people keep repeating that statement because that has been the policy in more recent years. I usually buy new mugs but will continue to use ones from the past that were purchased under the OLD policy. It really is a matter of principle.

We often have a large group with us and sometimes split our stays. If the mugs were purchased years ago, I still will use them. I've never been questioned. As a matter of fact some of the cast member were probably just little ones when some of our originals were purchased.

I don't know if it's still the case, but BW has had its own policy for mug refills. When I was last over there (in April 2004), there was a sign up at Boardwalk Bakery explaining their refill policy. Boardwalk mugs got free refills. A mug from any other Disney resort got a discounted refill ($0.79, IIRC). They don't fill the actual mug, anyway. You show your mug and they give you the drink in a disposable cup. So, to answer the original poster's question. I'd buy my mugs over at PO and then just use the discounted refill option over at Boardwalk (unless I really wanted the new mug souvenir).

Where can I find a picture of the Beach Club Refillable mugs?

Also, can someone tell me about coffee and breakfast?

I've seen different post some saying you can get breakfast at Beachs & Cream and others saying you can't. I've seen different post about where to get coffee in the AM. Gotta have that coffee!!

Thanks for any insite.

Normally I don't bring up moral issues and I don't mean to start a new argument, but I will play devil's advocate in this instance...

....you spend thousands of dollars on your trip...and if they are gonna make a big hoot about a soda...well then i would deal with that then.....

If you are going to spend thousands of dollars on your trip, why are you going to be such a skin flint over the cost of a mug for your bevarages? I mean, after thousands, whats another $11 for a new mug for each family member?

That's the way I look at it. An extra $22.00 isn't going to ruin our trip.
