Refillable mugs Yes Again

Once upon a time in a far away land called Disney World, the "official" policy on these mugs AS STATED ON SIGNS in the food court at All-Star resorts was that the mug was good for refills FOREVER. Yes, it really did say forever! So, don't you all think that people that bought the mugs with that understanding should be able to use hem FOREVER if they choose to?? I also think that when you check with a CM and they tell you that yes, you can use the mug you bought on a prior trip on this trip, that hey, you can use it! :) If you bought your mug under the policy of only for that length of stay, then hey, only for that length of stay should you use it!

I do believe that POFQ has coffee makers and now most rooms have fridges, so for us, that reduces the need for mugs for everyone, but well will probably at least get one because I do like having them around as memories.

On our last visit, I actually asked a few CM's why they didn't say anything to the people that were using old mugs, pop bottles, plastic cups (7-eleven) and anything they could fill up. At least embarass the people. 4 out of 5 said they didn't want to the the "bad guy" and nobody really cares. Pretty pitiful huh? We buy the mugs for souvenirs. We don't drink soda but use them for tea and coffee. We are three people and buy three mugs. I really don't care what other people do, I just found it funny that the CM's there don't care either.

Yes, I do. But I think the original post was concerning a future trip not use of a mug bought years ago. Actually, I think the original post was not about using one mug at another resort or even during a subsequent stay, but whether it would be a worthwhile investment to purchase two sets on one trip.

And as has been said, it all depends on how thirsty you expect to get.

I thought it was funny that the only time I've been asked about refilling the mugs, was the same place where they put the "good forever" stickers on the mugs in the rooms, the Beach Club! Last time I was at the Beach Club in 2003, I purchased a mug for my stay, and when I went back a couple days later to refill it at Beaches and Cream, they actually asked for my room key to refill it, which I thought was odd. But I showed them my room key and got it refilled. I dunno, maybe they were checking to see if a mug was charged on my room key or something, but what if I had paid for it with cash? How does a room key prove I purchased a mug on that visit? The cast members seem to range from very strict on this issue to not caring at all (the filling of the bread bag story comes to mind, lol). I just think some consistent policy needs to be started here. I do purchase new mugs for every trip though, just because I like to.

We were at WL in November and they were telling people with the mugs with the new stamps they could not refill their mugs (***), but mean while people with old mugs were not questioned, no matter the resort. I always buy mugs at the resort becuse they are our souveniers (love taking my morning coffee in a resort mug)....I think they are really trying to phase out the old mugs.

We mix it up and buy a couple of new ones with a couple of old ones. I figure if someone had a problem with using the old ones I could just make two trips... dump the contents of the new into the old and fill the new. Really, what difference does it make which container it's in when it's "unlimited"? Fountain soda costs pennies. Disney is already raking in thousands of dollars from me, they can spare a litte soda. I doubt too many CM's would risk the alienating the thousands for a couple of bucks worth of soda.

That's the way I look at it. An extra $22.00 isn't going to ruin our trip.

Totally agree. It is not worth the hassle to me, to bring an old mug back with me and pack it and lug it around for the little bit of savings. If that amount was enough to make me worry about it, I am not sure I could justify spending all the other money for the trip.

Thank goodness nobody ask if they could pool hop, with their old AS mug to the Poly!!!! I hope the tagfairy doesn't get me!!!!! :earboy2:
