Refillable Mugs @ Universal

I'm still debating on that Meal Deal anyhow. It would be a great deal for DS12. I honestly don't know where all the food goes that he eats. :confused3 DH wants to get it for himself too. As for DS7 and myself, I don't know if we could eat enough to feel that it was worth it. He only eats PB&J and I've been eating smaller portions (:woohoo: Yeah me! I've lost 12 of the 25 pounds I've set as a goal to lose.)

Sorry to hijack the thread. Now back to your regularly scheduled topic - refillable / souvenir mugs. :)

the Meal Deal is a GREAT program as long as you're OK with the menu items. I've never had a bad cheeseburger at UO, and that's as basic as it gets.

I'd buy a couple of the regular mugs vs the Meal Deal mugs and use them forever.

Anyone remember how much the MIB ones are? I seem to remember them being pretty cheap in the MIB store (and they said refills etc on the tag thing) .. was it something like 3.99? They're also light looking, atleast.

I think it is 6.99 for the first fill (can't remember)

They are called souvenier mugs and they are forever refillable!!! Yes - FOREVER!!!! Here is the one we got in April and it really helped with the 3 kids and needing drinks. Also if you have AAA remember to use it everyewhere in the parks and citywalk - to refill it came to like 1.45 or so.

These were the ones we got with the meal deal last fall. We could not find mugs with handles, as recommended. Oddly, the day we went, there were no carts on the streets and these red mugs were the only ones offered as refillable with the meal deal. I would have preferred something with a handle. We got 4 of them, one for each family member, and I ended up getting a large plastic bag at one of the shops to carry them around in once we had had enough to drink. :rotfl:

ETA: DH says he thinks he remembers the cups were free when we used a Mastercard to pay, too. He said that made the cups "a deal too good to pass up". I don't remember that detail  but we still have them and they will be going back with us the next time we head to USO! :thumbsup2

I think the MIB ones are $4.99. They have a handle.

I have at least 3 extra Twister refillable mugs. Anyone want one?

I bought 3 mugs ,same as the meal deal ones only they are red.
Think they where $6.99 and refills where 69cents, saved quite a few $$ over our time there

we have this monster.....pita carrying that around. once we decided on no stroller this trip (and we were flying so packing light) Sponge & Pat stayed home:

When we went in october we brought it and no one wanted to carry it :rotfl2: good thing we rented a stroller then!!! btw, that mug is from our trip in 2003 and still refillable in 2006 :thumbsup2

We got that "monster" too! My DD10 just had it out over the weekend. We still have the bubbles that come with it! That mug is from our 2003 trip. DH and I were just talking about the refillable mugs cuz he took the DD's to Six Flags last week and loved their refillable mug. . . you could hook it onto your belt. We decided that while we love Spongie and Pat, we are NOT carrying that thing around our whole vacation. Time for a couple new ones! Plus, it looks like , from the pic before this one, that those hold quite a bit more. If I recall correctly, Sponge and Pat didn't hold that much and my kids had a refill gone in like 6 seconds. We would just sit down next to a cart and get refills until everyone had their fill.

BTW - it seems like you could get some frozen lemonade or something of that nature in those babies too. Is that correct or am I thinking of somewhere else?

I'm hearing (reading?) that the mugs can be refilled anywhere from 69¢ to $1.45ish. Is there any consistency in the price? Or does the price fluctuate on a whim like car rental companies?? :)

Would I be able to get the refill price on a non-Universal mug I already own? I acquired a couple giant "Coca-cola" mugs in college, and we have Epcot and Busch Gardens mugs.

Dark Maurader, if you think the mug could get to Maine by Friday, I'd love one. We leave Saturday AM. Wahooo!

I think trying to get cheap refills using an Epcot mug wouldn't go over too well.

I wouldn't bring the Epcot or BG mug, but thought maybe the Coke one would be OK. :) We'll probably buy one and I'll be stuck carrying it. DH has a broken foot and I've become the resident pack mule. I wonder if I could use my old Busch Gardens mug for refills at BG/SW this year? It's from the Williamsburg park, but it's all the same company.

I think the point of the refillable mug is to get people to spend 8 bucks on a souvenir mug that they normally wouldn't consider buying. The cheap refills are your reward.

you need to buy the refillable mug at universal for it to be valid.

disney has the same policy.
you have to buy their refillable mugs at the resorts to reap the benefits.

only difference between disney and universal is universal's mugs are honored and valid forever.
disney only allows the refillable mugs to be used per visit.

Are the mugs fillable at the resorts? I'll be staying at RPR... anyone know?

Yep you can. We just got back today. You can get the frozen Lemonade and Icee Refills in you mugs. Icee refills are $2.49 and soda is $.69. We forgot our old ones in the car :sad2: so we bought 2 of the new ones. Refills are cheaper than they used to be. I think that they did used to be about $1.25. Can't remember exactly.... It was VERY hot this week:scared1: ...still had fun though!!!! Lots of swimming in the pool.
