Ok - we reused a mug once...back in 2001. flame away.

to be fair - this is before they printed ON THE MUG "good for your lenght of stay"

Disneyrsh - you'll be happy to know that I was at Tom Sawyer Island one day during this trip and got seagull crap ALL OVER MY SHIRT and had to walk around for the remainder of the day with a poopie shirt.

now we just stay concierge...no mug needed. hehehehe

I believe I just read in the "Official WDW Resort Mug Manual" that there is a 5 year statue of limitations on MUG Abuse!!!!
YOOOOOOOOOOOU are in SOOOOOOOOOO MUCH TROUBLE LADY!!!! :wave2:

"..we reused a mug once.." ONCE ???? come onnnnnnnnn out with it!
My dear sweet departed Nana always said..."Once a serial Mug abuser ...ALWAYS a Serial Mug abuser"!!!!

;)

With regard to the actual terms of the sale, I suppose they find it as mysterious as I do, how many guests actually assume that the mugs are good for more than just the one vacation.

Maybe because they were told. I know the mug policy. We went to eat at Trails End before the hayride at FW and the cashier asked us if we wanted a mug. I told her no because we were not staying at FW. (This was just last December mind you, less than a year ago) and she said it didn't matter, the mugs were good forever and I could bring them back if I did ever end up staying there. We still declined.

Maybe because they were told.
That seems reasonable, on first glance, but it is equally reasonable to expect folks to understand that what they told was wrong (or, if you prefer, that the details of the offering has changed). Most people know to never rely on a verbal promise of "forever" from anyone, about anything, any time.

In the end, the Uniform Commerical Code prevails. While indefinte time periods are allowed, and there can even be rules indicating how much and what type of notice must be given, the UCC doesn't allow for "forever" provisions in contracts. It provides that "Where the contract provides for successive performances but is indefinite in duration it is valid for a reasonable time but unless otherwise agreed may be terminated at any time by either party." [UCC 2-309: Emphasis added.]

We stayed concierge last visit too but I still bought that mug to take home. I like it as a "to go" coffee mug. Great souvenir.
