Refillable mugs on E-bay

Ok I just returned from a trip to Disney and thought I had seen the sign about lenght of stay for mugs right at the place where they were purchased...so I went up stairs to look at the mug I purchased in March 2005 (that I did not bring along to refil on this trip) and it says right on the mug only for lenght of stay and it is NOT a sticker that could be removed, it is printed on the mug right under the handle..... Black , white, actually on my mug red and white, :earsgirl: right ,wrong

Rationalization comes too easy, I feel. It's the same sort of thing as the shoplifter who says if the store cared about shoplifting they've have better security. While obstensibly true, the fact is that the store shouldn't have to incur that cost -- they should be able to rely on the integrity of the folks coming in the door. It's a shame that they can't.

I'd hate to think that it is true that younger people, in general, care less about honesty and integrity. That doesn't bode well for the future.

:badpc: And if the older generation cares this much about the misuse of mugs, then I say it's time to make way for the new carefree with mugs generation.

I don't think younger people care less about honesty and integrity....I think we've just learned from past mistakes and are choosing NOT to judge people without hearing the whole story. Maybe our generation may appear more passive because we'd rather ere on the side of caution then become self righteous.

I agree with the other poster...a lot of people don't know about the same visit policy. Please give them a break! And speaking of breaks - please give fellow DIS members a break with these ridiculous refillable mug debates!

How about spending your time refilling your LIFE?

They don't know about the policy because they chose not to know...it is posted!!!!!!

On this note,

I went through the bank's drive through window & cashed a check for $30.00,
I ALWAYS count my money before I drive off. After counting it, I realized she gave me $40.00. I told her I cashed a check for $30.00 & received $40.00. She was shocked! She said that I was the FIRST person that ever told of an error of receiving TOO much cash & she was so thankful.

My answer..... "I guess that's the difference of being a Christian & not" :goodvibes

Ahh so if you aren't a Christian you must be dishonest huh?

LOL, so you think they read every word hanging anywhere at WDW.

Some people break the rule out of lack of knowledge, I break it because it saves me money and makes people mad and Disney doesn't care.

Mind posting a pic of this? One of those "I don't believe it unless I see it" since I've never seen this stated on the mugs.

Where did they say that?

Did you not read the post? She told the bank teller about the money and then replied with a comment about being a Christian. That comment implies that perhaps the others that have never told the teller about a mistake like that are not Christians and therefore are dishonest.

Sorry I don't have a camera at the moment but I do have the POP mug I got in June sitting on the desk in front of me as I type. It states right by the bright orange handle "Free unlimited refills from our beverage islands during the stay in which the mug was purchased".

Couldn't be clearer than that, I don't think. It's there. Whether you choose to follow those regulations is your choice. I personally get a new one every visit since I use them constantly for my coffee :teeth:

BTW, I'm 53 and had to put on my bifocals to read the little print :rolleyes1

You know what, now that you have pointed that out (under the handle) I see it on mine!! Not really in the best location though as I've never noticed it before. I just thought it was copyright language or something. It's not the AS ones though.

It takes up too much room to bring back the mugs and since they aren't good for milk they really aren't that useful for DS and I. But...with that said, I really don't care what others do with theirs and if they bring them back for the rest of their life ;)

From what I can tell everyone who is going on and on about abusing these mugs (except maybe origional poster) seems to be middle aged or above. Maybe this is a generational thing.

How can you tell how old people are by their posts? Just curious.
I vowed I would not reply and enter the "refillable mug debate" but that comment made me curious.
Just for the record, the mug policy that I follow is this: if when I bought the mug, I was told it was reusable (according to CM's that I bought it from and no formal policy contradicting) I reuse it (if I remember to bring it!) but if I bought it after the policy change and the mugs say "length of stay only", I don't reuse it except for coffee at my desk at work! But I sure don't get in a snit over what others choose to do. And also for the record, I'm middle-aged.

Maybe she didn't see a sign that says "for this stay only". It doesn't say it on the mug nor on the sign where you purchase the mugs, nor on the receipt and a CM does not tell you this when you purchase them. I know I have never seen that sign and I've been to Disney a few times over the years. The only reason I know of this "policy" is from reading the Dis Boards.

Me too and I even looked for a sign at the Poly because this had been such an issue on here and I couldn't find one. Then just the other day I found in small print on my mug itself it says "Good for length of stay only" or something like that. I have had this mug for a year and a half and only just saw this. I think plenty of people reuse them thinking it is okay.

Now the people with the 7-11 cups and bread bags are another story!!! :rotfl:

Some people break the rule out of lack of knowledge, I break it because it saves me money and makes people mad and Disney doesn't care.

Thanks for making me laugh out loud! There is just something about righteous indignation that makes me want to run out and be BAD :teeth:

And the rationalizations get even deeper. :rolleyes2

Thank you, at least, for that much honesty. :wave2:

My answer..... "I guess that's the difference of being a Christian & not"

This is opening a whole other can of worms! I would have gave the $10 back, and I am an athiest. There are plenty of Christians that would have kept it.

On the subject of refillable mugs. If Disney would just mandate a one-hour orientation on the use of mugs, there wouldn't be any problems.

Well, that would cut down on their purchase!! :rotfl:

Nice one! I may have to keep that one. :wizard:

If everyone were as good as the folks claim to be here on the DisBoards, the world would be a different place, perfect even. And if the people on the DisBoards were as good as they claim to be, we'd have no need for refillable mug or pool hopping debates.

I see both sides of this debate. And no we do not bring our mugs back. By the time we usually go back to WDW every other year or so I have lost them or they have been well worn.

They do say "Free Refills until the end of your stay. Refills only at location purchased."

But in August while at BCV pool bar the bartender told us to bring back our mugs every trip since they never change the mug. So if people are being told that then I think Disney should have a policy one way or the other.
