Some people collect stuff hat can't afford to take a WDW vacation this my be the only that get a mug. Lot people collect different stuff as mugs and other collectibles.

They my won't it for there collect of mugs because it's a unique mug.

I don' t think anyone is going to ask for a receipt, even if they did all they would have to say is ohhh I threw it away. When I was there noone cared what type of mug was filled, I saw all types. I was tempted to give mine to someone when we left, but I figured lots of people might be grossed out by the idea. I don't feel one bit bad for Disney if a few people get a little free pop. The fountain pop costs 1 cent per ounce or less so they're making so much money off of all the $2.00 glasses they sell in the parks they can cover it.

I've sold mugs on ebay, just like I've sold clothing. What someone does with something after they purchase it is not my business. If they try to get refills at WDW with it or if they keep it as part of their collection is really none of my business.

Yeah, but they are not selling them as collectable mugs....

"These mugs are perfect if you are planning a vacation to Walt Disney World! They can be refilled as often as you like with coffee, hot cocoa, iced tea and sodas from locations within the All Star Sports Resort. It was SO convenient to get a drink in the morning before heading to the parks and then use the mugs all day in the parks to hold ice water!! Much more affordable than paying $2 - $4 for a soda or bottle of water!"

It's unethical IMHO.

Why do people get so worked up about these mugs? Why do you care? If Disney really cared I'm sure they would enforce the policy. I saw people filling up right in front of CM's, and not one said a word. These were mugs from Typhoon lagoon even. If Disney really cared that much they could put the bar codes on the cups like they do at the water parks. They could have the bar code be good for say a month, or whatever, then you couldn't even use the machine withouht scanning it. I guess I just don't see this as a BIG issue!

I never understood why this is always such a hot topic. If Disney doesn't care, then MYOB, I'd say.

I was under the impression that the mugs can only be used at the resort where they were bought..in this case AS Sports. Since Disney changes the look of the mugs every year, unless there was someone at the fountains policing them or there was a bar code on the bottom that prevented the fountains from filling them, I don't see why someone wouldn't be able to use them.

I wouldn't personally try it, but I guess the worst they could say was NO!

I don't see why the refillable mug is such a hot topic. It's okay for everyone to pool dining plan credits and pay oop for kids in order to get more adult uses but don't you dare try to refill a mug! Doesn't make sense to me.

The truth and reality is, people take their blizzard beach and typhoon lagoon and other resort cups into the resort food courts and fill them up as they please. From what I know of staff training, they are suppose to inform you of the rules but they do very little enforcing them. I have personally witnessed this, part of me wish I bought my old resort cups with me... and I shrug it off as I fill up my new one... I DONT carry the reciept with me, never did... and you dont have to. Its not one of the rules.

Happy Disneying.

Why do you even care so much? What prompted you to search for mugs on ebay? Did you have a thought of buying them for yourself? Don't bid if you don't like what they are selling seems like a simple solution to me. Disney has never asked for a receipt in order to obtain a refill. If they start (which is highly unlikely because the refil stations are usually at a community area which is unmanned by CM's), then oh well, the buyer has a nice souvenior. :flower:

THAT IS FUNNY!!! Personally the thought of using someone elses mug is not what I would want to do. The style of POP hasn't changed and we bought new ones for a total of 6......I would like a different design every year. ;)

It is dishonest IMHO. Why should some people pay for new mugs each time so that others do not! I was raised to be honest and I expect others to be just the same. Maybe I really do belong in Fantasyland. If you cannot afford the mugs then bring your own water bottle filled with beverages you made. It is no different than helping youself to cookies and fruit at the supermarket to snack on while you shop and not paying for them. Stealing is stealing.

I personally agree with you and am always amazed at how people rationalize stealing......what does the policy state "length of stay"...whether it is inforced or not , is not the issue. :earsgirl:

No one has bid. Can't imagine how mad someone would be if they bought them and then were asked for a receipt/ told they couldn't use them when they got there!

Do you think these sellers know that they are only good for the stay in which they were bought???

You have got to be kidding me. You have nothing better to do than to worry about whether or not someone is using a plastic mug? :rotfl:

Seriously, sure it's against the rules, but why are you so concerned about it?

People like you make me continue to use my 6+ year old mug at any resort of my choice.

I honestly don't even remember seeing these rules posted when I purchased my mug, so unless you read Dis boards or asked you wouldn't even know you were doing anything wrong.

Maybe Disney should make you sign an affidavit when you purchase the mug, where you SWEAR not to use the mug after you stay, and NEVER at another resort! Maybe they could put magnetic chips on the mugs, and they can activate it when you purchase your mug, and they can set it to work for the duration of your stay at midnight on your departure day it will shut off, and if you TRY to use the fountain a HUGE alarm will sound, and the machine will flash and security can haul the thieves off to jail! WOW I bet a lot of people would return to Disney after an experience like that!
