Refillable mug question

Help ... I don't know where to ask this, but I'll start here! I know that the mugs are only good for your length of stay, but do you have to purchase them at the resort at which you're staying? Our past two trips we got mugs (not with a dining plan package) but at the BC they only had 3 colors and there are 4 of us. Not that we're picky, but we'd each like our "own color". So could I go to another resort just for a different color, purchase that mug, but use it for our stay elsewhere since the design on them is not resort specific?

I would believe it to be possible to get a different color at a different resort but I am not entirely sure. You could try the parks too, they have unique mugs.

I'm not sure there are more than 3 colors... Maybe someone can verify.

In any case, I've seen people suggest that you swap lids to make unique combos. So a pink mug w/ a yellow lid and a yellow mug w/ a blue lid, etc.

You could try the parks too, they have unique mugs.

However, the OP is asking about the refillable mugs that are available at the resorts. You cannot buy a mug in the park and use it in place of the refillable resort mugs.

If they are the same mugs as last year, as a pp poster said, only 3 colors. Which brings us to the question.......what do the mugs look like now?

last year the All Star Sports resort got mugs in different colors that had the RIFD chip in them as part of test on having to have that chip to get a drink - those mugs are now sold out so there is only the 3 colors that you can get

so I"m sorry to say you can only get the 3 colors at this time - we need people to ask for more colors - I really 5 or 6 would be great so family members can have their own as is my boys get the same color (they usually drink the same thing)

We were able to get black, pink, and blue but we saw people walking around the parks and filling up at our resort with orange, purple, green, and yellow! I'm sure the design on the mug itself was the same, so where did these come from?

there are other colors but it seems they are only producing the blue, black and pink now. It's possible smaller resorts just have more of the wider selection of colors still.

But you can buy and use the mugs at any resort. They are not resort specific, you don't have to be a resort guest to buy them either.

You can use your mug credits to purchase them at any resort as well.

BTDT with all of the above w/o any issues.

Is their some kind of bar code they attach to these mugs that expire on your last day?
If so can you ask they add the sticker to one of your mugs from the last time you were at the resort? This seems like the best way to be green.

Do they also give you a card if you forgot your mug?

As A PP mentioned, as part of the RFID mug testing, the mugs sold that had RFID chips were a different set of 3 colors, so they could easily tell which mugs had chips in them and would work. I'd wager those were the ones you saw.

At any given time, they only have the three mugs for sale. If you swap tops/bottoms you can end up with a bunch more color combos. Say one solid red, one solid green, one red bottom/green top, and one green bottom/red top.

None of the above. The water parks do have bar codes, and you can bring back a previously used mug and they will sell you a new sticker good for just that day. For the ones you buy at the resorts, its really on the honor system. The fountains are just out in the middle of the seating area, and you just fill up your mugs. Hence the perpetual "lifetime mug" threads and the "can I resuse my mug from last trip?" threads. If you don't have your mug with you, you cannot get soda.

I wonder if you asked at the food court it they could find another color in the back that is not being put out at that time. I'm sure they would help. It's worth a try.

That's from last year and they've already done away with it.

As of a month ago I still only saw 3 colors, black, pink and turquoise. I have stayed at BWV, AKV, and Hilton Head in the last year and the mugs have been the same 3 colors. I saw larger groups doing the lid swap someone earlier suggested. So you buy 4 (2 would be the same) but swap the lids around so your mug might be pink with a blue lid, etc.

What we do is - swap the covers. Teo pinks two blacks - one has black handle pink cover one has pink handle black cover - one all pink - one all black.

Still easy to keep seperate.

Thats a great idea that went right over my head last year, will have to do that this year!
