Refillable Mug Question

We have been to WDW many times. We always buy new mugs. We don't try to cheat the program at all. So, when I'm asking these questions, I'm not trying to take advantage, I really honestly want to know what the rules are. I've heard that the design has changed. And, our trip is a little different this time. I know that this topic usually tends to turn ugly, but I really just need the rules.

There are four of us in our group. Two of us are arriving a night early. We are staying one night at All Star Movies and then heading over to Saratoga Springs.

My question: I've heard that all the mugs are now the same. So, can we buy our mug at All Star Movies and use it our entire stay at Saratoga Springs. This is not a huge issue as we are going to be arriving very late and leaving in the morning. But, if we can, we'll buy them at All Star Movies.

Second question: are we only allowed to use them at OUR resort? We plan on doing a lot of resort hopping for different meals and viewing of Christmas decoations. Can we take our mugs along and fill them at the other resorts or are they good at our resort only?

Again, not trying to take advantage, just want to know the rules.

For what its worth, right or wrong, I bought a refillable mug at POP and used it at other resorts and no one said anything. The mugs are all the same.

Well as you know from past experience the CMs don't monitor to much. I saw everything from old mugs, to different resort mugs to my favorite a Dasani water bottle.

I digress, the new mugs are all the same and on them is written something like (don't have mine infront of me right now)...

'good for length of stay'

To me if you are on a continuous visit I don't see the harm. But you aren't supposed to use them after the trip is over. I would be honest when you move resorts and I think the CMs would tell you it is ok.

Thanks. I know it's length of stay. I know the CMs usually don't care (it's just the DISers that do). I just wasn't sure if it was length of stay at YOUR RESORT ONLY or just length of stay.

Pardon the threadjack but I've never purchased a mug. Are the prices different between the resorts?

I was told that they can be refilled at any resort during your stay in which you bought them, which means you could take them to a resort you might have an ADR at and refill them there as well as any resort you are actually staying at.

Thanks for your help!

The answer seems pretty clear on this one and it shouldn't be a problem.

The mugs used to say they were good at the location purchased and for the length of stay.

Now they just include the length of stay part.

thats good information cause i didn't know that either!!! 4 days left!!!! who wants to dance???? :cool1:

Thanks for the info!
From the info here, it sounds like it is perfectly fine to purchase a mug at one location and refill it at another.
I am assuming that they can only be filled at resort locations though (?)
How much are the mugs?

They can not be used in the parks, only resorts. They cost $11.99. Last year when it was just myself and DH we didn't buy them. We were never at the main building. If you plan on spending a lot of time at your main food court they are worth it.

Thanks again:thumbsup2 It sounds like it's worth the price if you intend on being at a place that you can refill them. On our previous trip, DH would buy at least 2 sodas a day from the vending machine. I think the mug would be a prudent purchase!:surfweb:

1) We still have some 2000 mugs.
2) They are good FOREVER.
3) This was prior to the limited use.
4) They were sold as refillable in the future.
5) Some of the lettering is wearing off, but they are still usable.

Hubby and I bought them for our trip last year and we would fill them usually every morning (hubby would take a walk after he woke up, I slept a little longer) and then usually when we came back to the room in the afternoon. Sometimes we'd fill them a third time at night. We definitely got our money's worth and they are a great souvenir.

Exact wording from the mug (as I enjoy drinking from it):surfweb: is:

Free refills available at our Resort Beverage Islands until the end of the stay in which the mug was purchased.

I take this to mean you can use it at any resort and Disney considers your "stay" to be the time you are on their property, even if you change resorts during your stay.

Could you send some pixie dust to my hubby (So he could get his duff out of bed a little early every day and get me something to drink?) :rotfl: :rotfl:

Yep. That's what that sentence means.
If it said, "Free refills available at our Resort Beverage Islands in which the mug was purchased until the end of the stay." Then it would mean only at the resort you bought it.

We were there in August, staying at POR, but we did some resort hopping to the various food courts. The Pepper Market at CSR would not let us use the YOMD mugs, they still had their own mugs.
