My family will be staying at the wilderness lodge the first week of december.

Will the mug that i purchased (at the wilderness lodge) 10 years ago still be good for free refills?

It was purchased on our honeymoon and now we are returning with our 4 yr old daughter.

i wanted to ask the pros before stuffing it in the luggage.

thanks for the help!:)

I don't know for sure, but I'm going to guess no. We were just at Poly, and bought a mug. It appears to be a Disney mug that they're selling at all resorts, and it is for use at any Disney resort through the end of your stay.

Lord, I would remove this post...for whatever reason, people freak about this issue. New mugs are for length of stay.
Once upon a time, they had "forever" type mugs. I don't know when that was...If your mug was purchased with that proviso, use it.
That having been said--I wouldn't do it, especially since ALL resort mugs are now the same with YOMD logo--I've seen lots of different old mugs used. And, I've never seen a CM say a word.
Have a great trip.:thumbsup2

In a word No.

Tread carefully on this one, it drives people insane.

I have gone to Disney 3 years in a row and I notice people using the mugs at the Pop Century food court from other resorts and the previous years. No one stops them. However, it does bother me and here is why:

The beverage island is always very crowded, and if you are not a paying customer and I have to wait for you to get all your drinks for your family with mugs from two years ago, I resent that. I paid money for my mugs and have to wait for you to get your free drinks. I don't like it.

However, I have never seen anyone of these cheapskates stopped.

On my mugs, it has fine print that says good for length of stay.

When we bought ours this year at SSR we were told it was good for our entire length of stay. The mugs all have the same (dated 2007) logo, which I presume will change to a 2008 version next year.

Since the answer to your question has already been established, I just want to say welcome to the Dis and enjoy your trip!! I think it's great you get to bring your little princess princess: this time. Have fun!:santa:

Technically, yes, you can. I also have 3 mugs from DxL, back in '99. They were bought when you could reuse them at the same resort forever...no questions asked. There was signage that stated that, as well as CM's when asked. I figured I wouldn't be back so didn't think too much about it. However, I returned in '01, to find that the policy had changed to use only at the same resort, during the stay in which it was purchased.
But......I have seen people at every single food court, with a ton of different mugs, from all different resorts, styles that had been discontinued, and no one said a word.
Do what you want...personally I don't think it's worth the aggravation of packing the mug and dragging it all the way to WDW. I would just buy new ones..they make great souveniers from each trip. I would know...I have about 15 of the stupid things!!!!

although i purchasd it with the understanding it was good forver (and being an attorney i am a stickler for contractual obligations) i was afraid that "circumstances" may have changed.

thanks for the input! i guess that classic mug will be staying at home.

we are really looking forward to the lodge at Christmas:)

I agree here.

I have a 1997 mug too. It has Winnie the Pooh and says Fall 1997 on it. We didn't bring it though because I felt funny using that when they are selling YOMD mugs. However, we did bring our YOMD mugs back on our second trip this year.:rolleyes1

My DH got our refills at the BC Marketplace and he was shocked that so many people staying in a deluxe resort were using old mugs from other resorts, and the CMs never said a word to them. We were reusing ours too, but at least they were from this year if not from that resort.

We also went in 1997 and were told at that time that the mug was only good for the length of the trip and location that we purchased it at. There were signs located at the checkout and above the beverage machine with this wording on it.

I beg to differ. my 97 trip = mug good for life.

We were there in 2000 and got our mugs at WL. CMs said, when we were purchasing them, what a good deal they were because they were good for life. In 2002 when we went we took them back. This time signs said good for length of stay that mug was purchased. They were the same mugs so we used our old ones, since we had been told that they were good for life.
We haven't taken them back since, but feel that if we were told good for life, that is what we should expect.:confused3

There was a time the mugs were 'good for life' or whatever. And now the policy has changed.

Not that it much matters it seems, Disney doesn't spend much time enforcing this so my best advice is..

"Let your conscience be your guide."

Oh these threads do make interesting reading...people's different views on things are so funny!

Me personally, I wouldn't dream of taking back our CBR mugs in April...to me it's more fun having a new one with a different design! :thumbsup2

That's just it, Knox, I've been to Disney over 75+ times since 1971 and have never seen "good for life" mugs. Why is it that no one can show us a picture of this supposed signage, if it in fact exists?

My main point is -- since Disney doesn't care enough about this policy to enforce it.. should we spend this much time arguing about it here on the DIS?

Really?

I personally don't think so.

YMMV.
