>> Refillable Mug FAQ <<

When we were at AoA in June four of our mugs expired in 14 days, one expired in 21 days, and one expired in 28 days. I have no idea why the dates were different, they were all purchased at the same time.
Thanks for that report!

This is at Conch Flats in OKW. The scene is the same at Good's and the Turtle Shack so handles cannot be found here at the lovely OKW resort.

I agree with other comments on here that Disney should offer both versions. We don't need to put ours in a stroller or backpack but we do want to send just one person to get everyone's drinks which is now impossible. I could carry 6 with handles and may just about carry 3 without. Come on Disney think of the customer and not the profit margin

My 84 yr. old Mom is there with a large group right now and carried 12 handless mugs by herself with a tray. So more than 3 is definitely doable.

I agree guests should have a choice, but not having handles can have its advantages.

I have a mug with a handle from a previous trip.
Can I pay to have it reactivated instead of purchasing a new refillable tumbler?

In that case we will have a big collection of trays back at our villa after 16 days!

Kudos to your mom. I wouldn't even attempt to carry 12 of them on a tray. And if I was there with a group of 12 people there's no way I'd be asking or allowing the 84 year old in the group go fill all the mugs by herself. But that's just me. I have no doubt that if I tried to carry 12 filled mugs on a tray that some little kid or an adult staring at their phone would step in front of me and the tray would tilt ever so slightly and all the mugs would slide and tip....because once one mug tips, they're all going down like bowling pins. Or one will tip over the edge and hit the floor causing the lid to pop off and spill everywhere.

I was kind of excited about the handle-less mugs. They would fit better in my stroller organizer and take up less room in my cupboard (I'm assuming they would nest better than they do now.)
But, I know that with a January trip planned there is no telling what will happen between now and then. We'll just get what we get!
As for easy mug identification, I just take my kids school supply labels with us. We have tons of them, and they're dishwasher safe etc, so they last. Pop one on the mug, one on the lid and we're good to go.

FWIW, not all 84 year olds are "old". My aunt is 75 and I swear is more youthful than me. She's still caregiving for friends and family same-age and older (and possibly younger). My MIL has acted 115 since she was 50. But my aunt WANTS the pullout sofa when we stay at a 2 bedroom, etc. She is amazing.

Since she's the youngest of the 12, she volunteered.

That's awesome. :)

Carrying 12 on a tray would be easier than carrying 3. Carrying 12 they are nestled together, but 3-ish would be skittering all over the tray. At least in my mind's eye.

I totally get it. I know plenty of people who are 80+ who are as active and "young" as some 40 year olds I know. I volunteer many hours a week at a nonprofit organization where we focus about 50% of our time and resourcese on the 60 and over crowd. I hope that when I'm 84 I have 11 friends who are older than me and still physically and financially able to go to Disney World with me. That would be awesome. But I can guarantee you that I won't be carrying 12 mugs on a tray for them because I promise you that would be a disaster. :D

so i am confused. are the handleless mugs coming or going? i personally want the one with a handle as i use a carabiner to link it to my backpack so if necessary i will bring one from a previous visit and reactivate.

Currently, no handles. However, there is a rumor that the handled mugs are coming back but no confirmation from WDW and therefore no timeframe.
