So, I referred someone and they have purchased. Will I get any freebies for doing this great deed?

It depends on:

What state you live in,

The new purchaser listed you as a referral at the time of their first contact with the DVC.

If both are yes, you get $200.00 for the first and $1,000.00 for the 5th referral in a year.

This can be Disney Dollars, Maintenance Fee Credits, Donated to Charity, or something else.

$200 Disney GC, if you are in a US state that DVC is registered in (not sure about NC). Call you guide to make sure that they gave your name as the referral, if you haven't already.
