Reedy Creek Fire Station

DH and I along with another couple are staying at POP for one night in May before our cruise. DH is a firefighter and he and Kevin would like to visit the fire station. DH knows that it is fairly close by. My question is can they purchase tee-shirts there? My DS (16) wants to be a firefighter and would love one of those.

They have tshirts for sale through their website. I would imagine they would also have them at the FH. My DH's dept. gives tours as long as they've been set up in advance but they also get plenty of people who just walk up and ask. Unless they are training or in meetings a tour is usually given. I would suggest using the contact us form on the website.

I set up a tour for my dh and kids at one of the St petersburg depts while we are there in July simply by calling the dept.

For me, ABSOLUTELY but the answer would depend on whether or not you are a fire dept family. My DH's dept has tourists (visiting the casino) stop in all the time. Most are career and volunteer FF's from various parts of the world. they had a gentleman from Japan a couple of weeks ago who brought tshirts with him from his dept and was given several to take home with him.

My boys have a fabulous time visiting fire houses while on vacation especially in a different part of the country.

ETA: my younger two boys just looked at the Reedy Creek Fire website. i have a feeling half my trip is going to be spent searching for the "Marc vehicle" As my youngest (4) put it "That's SWEET, mom"

I believe the answer to "the question" is a definite yes. I grew up in houshold of volunteer firefighters, my father was always welcomed at ANY firehouse he chose to visit, and at most of those places he was given a T-shirt or hat. I can understand why they need to charge for their T-shirts at Reedy Creek given the amount of out of town fireman that probably visit.

The answer becomes...if the o(O)akbook, IL fire house was located within a theme park, and if the o(O)akbook, IL fire house FF's and parameds expected people to stop by for t-shirts, sure, why not?

And yes, aquaticmom, Brad will be in my prayers, good wishes. With my son, Vince, a FF/paramed, and I know the well the concern for his and all his bothers' and sisters' safety.

Yes, right now he is very heavily sedated with over 75% of his body burned. Thank you all in advance for your prayers as this young man really needs them right now.

We purchased t-shirts through the website also and it took about 4 months for them to cash our check and send our shirts. The shirts are actually sent out via the Reedy Creek Improvement office, not the firehouse itself. So they might not even have them at the firehouse for sale.
