Inspired by the thread about a hair-coloring mistake that ended up a vibrant red, I'm curious ... Are there other DIS redheads out there? Come and say hello!

I'm the only TRUE redhead in my whole family, and although I hated it when I was growing up, the comments I've gotten (when I learned how to appreciate them!) have been truly lovely. My favorite was when I visited Ireland a few years ago ... It was so much fun having people tell me that I looked like a "true Irish Colleen!" :D

I also enjoy being accosted by little ol' ladies in the drug store who demand to know which box of hair color I use. I love the looks on their faces when I tell them it's natural. Haha!

Redheads Unite! If you're a redhead (or a lover of the red-haired folk) stop by and have a pint of your favorite Irish lager on me! :D

Mom gave birth to five redheads, and neither her or dad had red hair.:teeth: My nephew and all 3 of his kids are redheads.

Gulp, Gulp, Gulp...thanks for the drink,;)

I have sort of an auburn shade of red. I never really cared for it but I get tons of compliments on it. It probably wouldnt be so bad if I had decent hair to go along with the color, but its too wavy, frizzy and way too thick.

I am a true red head, freckles and all. I'm also the proud mother of a very handsome redheaded son.

I used to beg my dad to let me color it growing up and he refused until I turned 18. Once I was 18 it got me so many compliments (and the odd date or two or three....) I thanked my dad for making me wait!!!:p

Me I always hated it and wish I had different color but dh loves it , I prayed when I was prego that my babies would not get my red curly stinking hair !!

I got the thick, wavy hair too. I got teased about it alot as a kid, and I also had other girls tell me how much they loved it. I hated it, it was so hard to comb. Never hated the color, just the texture.

as a board freekle faced red headed here. Dh loves red heads we have 2 DD born with daddy's blonde hair. Shhesh something else that's his fault!

red hair is a dominant gene and it often is hard to stop from being passed along!

I have Irish in me and have a natural tinge of red mixed with brown and blonde, plus freckles in the summer. I do color my hair to make it redder!

I had more red in my hair as a child than I do now. I would love to have redder hair. When I have it highlighted, I usually have red highlights added in along with the blond. Some day when I'm feeling really adventurous, I will come home from the salon a red head.:D

True redhead here, as you can maybe see from my sig. Mom's a redhead and everyone always thought she dyed her hair to be like me.
DS also has a little red tinge to his hair, I hope he keeps it!

I always thought it was interesting when I would travel in Europe, everyone always assumed I was from Ireland.

And yet, did you know that most of the world's redheads are actually in Scotland? I remember reading that somewhere ... When I visited Ireland, I saw very few redheads around, which I thought was odd. I was there on a tour with my college choir, and I remember after one of the performances an older man came up to me and said that his son wanted to say hello to me, but he was too shy. I said I thought that was sweet, and he told me that his son had a soft-spot for redheads, and that he thought they were "deadly" ... I could only hope that was a compliment, rather than a comment on the notorious spark of a redhead's temper! ;)

A friend at work once looked at me and said "OMG, your hair is red" .... :p I have dark auburn hair that apparently looks brown in certain light. It was just so funny that it took this guy a couple years to notice the color of my hair.

There are a few redheads in my family.

another true red head here!!!

i was just like everyone else...growing up, i hated my red hair! my whole family had brown hair and i looked like the milkman's kid! i wanted brown hair too...

but once my grandma passed away (we both had red hair and i was her only grand child with red hair) i chose to keep my natural color in her honor...and now i love it!!

i do color it, but basically it's the same color, just cover up the grays...my DH has always had a thing for redheads! that's what caught his attention when we were in high school!! and when we were apart for those 10 years, just about every girlfriend he was with had red hair!!

i guess i ruined it for all the other hair colors out there for him...;)

The older I get, the more red my hair gets. I consider myself a dirty blonde, but I do get referred to as "that redhead" every now and then.

It's the same way with my DF! He always used to be into blonde gals (he even wrote a fan letter to Alicia Silverstone about a decade ago ... but that's another story!) I constantly remind him that REDHEADS are the ones that have the most fun, and oh boy, does he believe it! :D

DW is a freckled Red Head.....her Mom and Dad are too.....

the downside is...she use more sunblock than any other person I know....she has to (poor kid)....or she gets a bad case of sunburn....

::does the happy to be married to a Red Head dance ::

....been doin' that dance over 31 years....

*raises her hand*

I am a true redhead. When I was young it was very very red! Now it is more of a strawberry blonde.

My two brothers are red heads too. neither of my parents are red heads but there are aunts that have red hair.
