Redeeming Southwest Rapid Reward Points

Ok, so I think this is a dumb question and I'm probably making it more complicated than it is. I have points that I want to use to book a couple flights through Southwest. I'm logged into my Rapid Rewards account and I can see my points....when I go to book the flight I choose the points option and not the dollar amount. Will it automatically deduct the points from my account or does it ask me somewhere along the booking process if I want to apply my points? I guess I'm just confused as to how the points actually get applied. Thanks for the help!

Yes, you've got it right. Immediately after the purchase, you'll see your point total decrease. Note that you still have to pay the $2.50 - $5.00 fee just like with an award ticket.
