An FYI for those of you who are planning on using Disney Reward card points towards the purchase of theme park tickets.

We only wanted individual day tickets (2 days) so we weren't able to purchase them at the Disney Store. On the morning of our first park day we got to the concierge/front desk early so that we could get our tickets and get off to the park to be there when it opened.

Unfortunatly, it took an hour for us to get our tickets taken care of. For some reason there was an issue of communication between Disney's machines and the Reward cards machines so that it kept timing out the transacations (both mine and my mothers). Three cast members werent' sure how to proceed and after trying this for 30 mins AND calling the 1-800 number on the back of the Rewards card they decided to go ask their manager. After another 30 mins, they just decided to go ahead and give us the tickets but not charge us because they couldn't get the Disney Rewards cards to go thru.

We left them with specific instructions that between our two studios we wanted to purchase 4 2-day park passes and use our points (400 combined) towards the cost of these passes. Any remaining cost (which we knew there would be) was to be charged to my mothers VISA. Needless to say, when we got our bill it was charged to my VISA and not hers.

So a word of advice, try to purchase your tickets in advance if at all possible! Or do it right when you check into the resort. All in all the cards ended up going thru and we got in ok but it was a MAJOR hassle.

Anyone else have any issues with their Disney VISA reward cards?

Back in May when at WDW, we used ours alot. Each time the balance showing on the receipt would be 0.00. One CM wondered how I had managed to spend exactly the amount on the card. :confused3
Any hoo, the card would work, but I would have to keep up with the balance, not a big deal.
DH called this week to see about getting a new card and they told him they had gotten the glitch in the system worked out. Seems like it might be the glitch you are talking about. He did go ahead and put points on it. Hope it works when we get there in Oct.
Maybe I should call back????

You are saying Megan,it's a bummer when you try to get a early start and things go south on you like that.Hope in future they get the bugs worked out and things go better for all. Danny

I have found the easiest way to purchase ticket media with the rewards card is at the guest services window at the parks. They are used to it and have about three years experience with it. I have done this several times and never had a problem.

This is probably a stupid question, but can you still use your rewards dollars at the Disney Store, since they are no longer owned by Disney?

Thanks,
Lisa

Yes you can! I've used them there quite frequently! :flower:

Thanks for the good info re: the use of Disney reward points. We're hoping to have around $300 to use on our next trip.

Do not buy short tickets for everyone because you only have enough reward points to do that and also buy second tickets for everyone using cash halfway through your vacation.

For vacations of 10 theme park days or fewer, and you need new tickets, one ticket should span the entire vacation.

Depending on the kinds of tickets available using reward points, and your touring schedule (Disney Quest?) you can get rewards tickets for the entire vacation for some family members and buy tickets using cash for other family members.
