I've searched everywhere online and on this board to find out if anyone knows if you can use your child's social security card as ID? I can't find my kids' birth certificates (which means they're in a safe place :) ), but I have their SS cards. They're government issued, so I would assume that means they'd be ok, but they don't say anything but their names on them obviously. If that doesn't work, the only other thing I have is the hospital-version copy of the birth certificate. Has anyone had any luck with either of these forms of ID for your child?

I don't know the answer for you. I think they ask for a birth certificate so they can compare the birth dates on the registration form to the birth dates on the ID presented to confirm it is the same child and also that the child is old enough to participate in the program. But Doconeill or Cheshire Figment will know for sure and will post the answer. :goodvibes

The rules specifically state that a Federal or State Photo ID is required for anyone 18 or older. They can be used for anyone under 18, or a copy of a Birth Certificate. It would not hurt to contact your State Office of Vital Statistics, or whatever the agency is, to get official copies. You may find them necessary in the future for getting Passort or various other items where one may be required. Normally they are in the $5-$10 range in most states, and service is fairly rapid.

But what is shown in Post #16 of the sticky is the official policies.

We just returned from using our GAD certificates for fast pass cards.

My DD15 has a state issued ID card and for DS7 I brought a copy of his birth cert. They definitely looked for the birthdate to compare it to what was on the certificate so I would say a SS card will not work.

We used our GAD certificates in May at DL. 3 Adults 1 child (8). I paniced when 2 days before we were leaving, my DD told me she could not find my DGS's BC. She ended up taking his SS card, vaccination records and Paperwork from the hostpital from his birth. I redeemed my voucher, and explained what we had to CM, he said he would have to get his supervisor, so it took an extra 10+ mins, but the supervisor really didn't look at anything, but had me sign a paper, and took a copy of my drivers license.:confused3

We were never made to feel bad that we didn't have the correct ID, they were great about it.

The first day we redeemed our GAD certificate for FPs at AK, I did not take my DD and DS passports, just their school photo IDs. I had all three certificates and my drivers license. The will call window attendant would/could not accept the school IDs for my children, so I redeemed my GAD certificate with my Drivers License (as I knew I could) for FP. The next days, I just carried their passports and redeemed w/o difficulty at MK and Epcot for FP.
Let me say, those GAD FP exchange cards are like GOLD! :worship: In Epcot, I walked up to the Special Exchange machines at Soarin and Test Track long after all faspasses were gone and got right on - It was wonderful! (Unfortunately, when others saw me pulling fastpasses, they lined up behind me with their standard park tickets and the attendant was left making explanations....
