Anyone know if I can get the target RedCard 5% discount while using the SW Rapid Rewards portal? And what if I'm paying with a combo of three target giftcards and my southwest card? Do I get the 5% off on any of the total amount? Any restrictions on how many forms of payment I can use on target.com?

I don't know about using the Southwest RR portal, but IIRC from using the United one, once you link through to the Target site, you can pay using any accepted payment method on the site.

But... if you are paying using a combination of Target Gift Cards and a Red Card, you will only get the 5% savings on the amount you pay using the Red Card, same as if you were shopping in the store.

Hope that helps!

This is not accurate, in my recent experience. I had a $5 Target gift card and a $40 Target gift card. I went to the Target.com site and purchased a $50 Disney Gift card. I used the two gift cards ($45) total and my total cost was $47.50. I used my RedCard to pay the $2.50. If I had done this in the store, I would have only received the 5% off of the remaining $5, saving only $0.25.

I don't know how long this "loophole" will last, but I hope to use it to maximize my savings. I have a system, and DH thinks I am insane, but it will basically net us about $75 in free gift card funds:thumbsup2.

From the SW shopping site for Target store details:

Not eligible on purchases made with coupon or discount codes that are not found on this site. Not eligible on gift cards, gift certificates or any other similar cash equivalents. Not eligible on products listed under the "Target Company Store" section of Target.com. Not eligible on orders above reasonable quantities, as determined by Target, for any given item including bulk purchases made for the purpose of resale or return. Not eligible on service invoice adjustments, reorders, pharmacy products, groceries, Baby Care Products, including: Baby Toiletries, Diapers, Wipes, Formula & Food and third party websites where checkout does not occur on target.com. Any return, exchange or other adjustment made at a physical store location for an on-line purchase may result in your purchase being deemed ineligible.

I was going to buy some when I saw this. If anyone has had success getting points for this online please share!

I'm not buying gift cards. I want to use the Southwest Shopping portal to buy an electronics item from target.com. To pay for the electronics item I would like to use three target gift cards plus my Southwest credit card. I've seen posts before that say people have gotten the RedCard benefits (5% off and free shipping) even without paying with the RedCard.

Will I get 5% off? Will I get the 1pt/dollar for going through the portal? I realize I will probably only get a point for each dollar I actually pay and won't get points for what I pay with a target gift card.

Pricing is similar to amazon for the item I'm looking at. So I'm trying to see where the better deal is, Target online with SW portal, Target in store, or Amazon.

Thanks for all the insight. ::goodvibes::

Oops, sorry. Guess I just assumed. From what I see I think you can get both the 5% and the RR points (on the total paid after discounts & GC), but I've never tried it. Let us know how it goes. From what others have reported, you might get the 5% off before even using the GCs. Good luck!

Thanks again for all the input. I will report back with results! :)

You're saying you are paying with target GCs and your SW card so I don't see how you'd get the 5% off at all. It doesn't sound like you're using your red card at all so where would you save 5%?

Maybe I'm confused.

It is confusing. I think the "loophole" happens when you have an account with Target.com. When I want to buy Disney GCs, I go to the Target site and sign in, so that I get the "Welcome, Angie789" message at the top of the screen. At that point, Target know sthat I am a RedCard holder, so they automatically take 5% off my purchases - even if I am paying with Target gift cards or other credit cards.

I don't imagine this will last forever, but I can also confirm that it works for now! I earn Target GCs off of Swagbucks, Perk, Shopkick, etc. and I only have to accrue $95 of gift cards in order to get $100 of Disney cards, even though I don't use my Red Card for those purchases.

Right. I've seen this posted which is why I wondered how it would work with a combo payment.
