Red wine always numbs my tongue

I think I have heard that some people have more of a reaction (including the taste-buds) to tannins.

Something you might try to read about?

Like the 'super-taster' thing.
There are foods that some people just hate or can't tolerate because they are super-tasters, and things like cruciferous vegetables, like broccoli, cabbage, etc.. are just overpowering with the negative (sulfer) tastes.

I can eat broccoli and cabbage. But, I haven't found a red wine I like, because I think that it must be the tannins.
