We were in Boston today and on the way home we heard on 'EEI about the possibility of A-Rod going to the Yankees. Apparently there are only little details left to iron out, but it looks like Alex Rodriguez may be at third base (yes, that's right) for the Skankees. The (Evil) Empire Strikes Back. Better hurry up and re-sign Nomar NOW.
I am literally sick to my stomach hearing that Darth Steinbrenner has apparently done it again.

BaseBall isnt fair, Boston could buy other teams players but if the Yanks want them, you guys dont get them.

Yankee fan here. Great news A-Rod a Yankee!!
Just heard it on the news.

Great news!!!!! And they didn’t have to hire A-Rods favorite manager.

Don't panic guys............... the Yankees still don't have the pitching! (yet  )

Somehow, I'm not ALL that upset with Brown, Vazquez, Mussina, Contreras & Lieber. I'll put the Yanks pitching staff against the Sox with not too much worry. I figure Pedro's Tommy John surgery will be scheduled for around the All-Star Break.;)

It's going to be an incredible season in the AL East.

The Yankees are a perfect example of why baseball needs a salary cap....

Steinbrenner will do anything to buy a championship again. To me that seems like cheating when all he does is buy other teams' good players instead of developing his own

I am so sickened by this news! I have been watching Sportscenter & it is driving me nuts! My poor dad is beside himself.

OK, this is a little OT, but have any of you noticed how Yankee fans always post on threads that address Red Sox fans, yet they never start their own.

I actually posted the A-Rod to the Yanks link in the Play Ball!!! thread and commented on it before this one was opened. Should we have two threads going at the same time on the same topic? Do we need a Yankees thread and a Red Sox one? I'll gladly open one if that's what's needed. It's kind of a shame that all of us here who share Disney as a passion cannot have a sensible conversation about baseball. I guess this is right up there with politics and religion as a topic that's better left alone; either that or we need to move to the debate board.

Socks? You don't like socks? Don't your feet get cold?

Or maybe you meant Sox, as in Red Sox. Hmmmmm, in any case, don't you think that was a less than classy thing to say? <a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/23/23_14_7.gif' border=0></a>

I absolutely agree with you. I think the problem starts when people don't stick to what the OP is commenting on. This was obviously started as a place for Red Sox fans to discuss what happened, and was quickly hijacked, again by Yankee fans who apparently have nothing better to do than jump on every Red Sox thread they find. They should start one of their own to talk about Arod coming to their team. That would be great. ::yes::

I believe it would be better if the Yankee fans did not come to Red Sox threads and start throwing around comments such as those I have seen here. It's not necessary, it's rude and uncalled for in this case. Why do you go to a thread that has "Red Sox" in the title? I would really like an answer to that.

Let's see if I can convey my feeling towards Steinbrenner!

P.S. No need for the rude comment by blz85.

It's obvious by the 18 posts that they're not quite sure how we operate here!

In answer to the first part of your post, I don't think that the Community Board on the Disboards is the right place for the rude posts that are posted on either side of the Yankees/Red Sox debate. When I come to the Disboards, I think of this as a friendly board. Even as a Yankees fan, I don't appreciate the
"Sox suck" type of comment. (Yes, Blz85, this is directed at your comment. As a fairly new member with only 18 posts, you need to get a bit more familiar with the general tone of these boards before you make imflammatory posts.) Posters who feel the need to go really negative can certainly visit other websites and go to Yankees or Red Sox boards. You think these posts are nasty? You should see what's going on over on those boards today!

OK, in answer to the "Why go to a thread with Red Sox in the title?" question: Because although I am a Yankees fan, I consider myself to be a baseball fan first and foremost. Accordingly, whenever I'm here on the Community Board and I see a post that obviously is of a baseball nature, that's a thread I'm interested in. I don't just go to Red Sox posts, if I see a thread with Cubs, Twins, Dodgers, Marlins, etc. I'll be reading and often posting on those threads too. Right now, I'm just SO hungry for baseball, I'd discuss it with ANY baseball fan!

Here's to a great season

I can see visiting any and all baseball threads. I don't quite see commenting on a Red Sox specific thread as a Yankee. I think that a "Go Yankees" type of comment on a thread that was intended for Red Sox fans is what it is. A slap in the face. I personally would not even lurk in a Yankee thread or any other team that I have no interest in, much less go in there (a Yankees thread) and make a comment about the Red Sox. What sense does that make?

I think most Red Sox fans who post here on the CB would like to be able to start a thread for their own fans without having to deal with Yankees coming in and talking up their team. I don't see why that shouldn't be possible.

I'm with you though on this part though - looking forward to a great baseball season.:wave2:
