OMG! ROFLMAO!

That is truly hilarious!

I'll tell you, I TIVOed the game and rewatched it this morning, and I burst out in a spontaneous fit of laughter when they did an interview with Joe Torre after the game. I've never seen such a hangdog expression in my life. I wish I could get a screen capture of it.

and are we praying for the Cardinals or the Astros tonight? Or neither.

Also: It seems I now have a lucky bathrobe.

Don't know about who we would rather face in the WORLD SERIES, but one of the local talk sports radio guys said he is praying for an 18 inning game tonight!!!

And, congrats on your lucky bathrobe Teejay--see, and you thought you had no lucky clothes!!! :rotfl:

OMG! I was on the phone with my brother last night & when they went to interview Torre, my brother said "Hey Joe, why so long in the face?" LOL! Too funny.

I would have given ALMOST anything, to see just one shot of Mr. Steinbrenner last night. Poor Brian Cashman looked positively stunned, and I cannot even imagine the meetings (ha!) that will be forthcoming.......

ps Mermaid--excellent obscure movie reference. One of my all time favorites!!!!

I agree Deb... my dh and I figured he was on oxygen after Ortiz's first hit and they probably had to pick him up off the floor after Damon's Grand Slam!!:teeth:

Great movie isn't it?

Has everyone seen the new Holiday Inn Express ad?

If features Derek Jeter, who steps up to the plate and is quickly struck out by Curt Shilling. Afterwards, Jeter says:

"Actually, I'm not really a professional baseball player.

But I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.
"

Headlines in the New York Post today:

The Chokes on Us!

Hell Freezes Over!

:p  :rotfl:

OK now Ann--as keeper of the official Red Sox Prayer society, you have to decide. Same rituals, or make up new ones???? Inquiring Minds, and all that jazz......
:) Deb, I have been pondering that today...in between my efforts to keep my eyes open and prepare for a 4:30 PM  workshop presentation at work that ended up lasting until almost 7 PM  ...I digress....

OK...this is the thing: MY rituals are gonna have to change. I think this is OK - because it's a NEW series and it's not the Yankees :teeth:. DD is a freshman at UNH...this is parent's weekend...and we have UNH season tickets for hockey...the home opener is Saturday night. So I will not be at my 'puter in my ALCS "outfit" ;) Saturday night. Then the following Saturday  I leave for Colorado for a vaca/visit with family in the Denver area. So maybe we're WORLD SERIES CHAMPS by then or maybe it's game 6.....game 7 God forbid would be on Halloween!
anyhooooooo.....I'm thinking we just all gotta do what we think is best... and do what we gotta do. The import thing is...check in here when you can for a prayer and a song...and most important:

WE BELIEVE!!!!

game 7 God forbid would be on Halloween!

Ann--Bill Simmons (a very funny writer on ESPN.com, and also a local Boston boy) wrote about this about 3 weeks ago. That if the Sox made it all the way, Game 7 of the World Series would be on Halloween night, and there is a reliever on the Red Sox pitching staff named, of all things, Mike Meyers (Michael Meyers, the really bad guy in ALL the Halloween movies).

I agree that new series, new ritual. We will carry the torch for you during Parent's weekend (GO UNH) got a cell phone that we can text you on???? :teeth:

I agree--we can be respectful and classy, but man oh man, is it sweet to have beaten the Yankees.

Thanks for your leadership thus far Ann. :::applause:::

And if Houston had won, guess who would have been pitching a game 7 for the Astros? Yes, the one and only Roger Clemens.

What better scenario to continue the curse? Clemens beating the Red Sox, AT FENWAY, on Halloween, to win the WS and deny Boston again!!!

With Houston out, maybe it is your year.

My cell phone and plan are "antique" as DD says...so no text msg'ing for me. Hers does though, let me consult her on that since she'll be at the hockey game too. :teeth:

Glad this thread has stayed "nice" and hope we can keep it that way...some others are a little testy.

Have a great day Sox Fans!

The local sports guys were talking about this too. More to the point, about the potential of Petey and Roger facing each other in a Nat'l league park, and each one having to face the other at the plate. (As they both have somewhat of a 'reputation' for tending to throw at people........)

This is going to be a great Series.

Good morning Sox fans....
Happy opening day of the WORLD SERIES!!! :teeth:

have a good one!....
