My husband and his sister went out today to eat at Red Lobster, and they only gave them 4 cheese biscuits during thier whole meal!! Now both of them are not small by any means, and who does'nt love those cheese biscuits. The waiter said Red Lobster was starting to cut back on these. Good grief. They only brought them out two biscuits at a time.

Sounds about right. It seems they have been cutting back entree portions as well.

Unfortunately the norm at many places--Olive Garden does the same thing with its breadsticks (same parent company). We just ask, and ask and ask. Finally, the waitstaff gets sick of running for more so they bring out a big basket.

Some people do not eat the biscuits but if they have been served they have to be thrown away. It is a way of saving on waste. All anyone would have to do is ask for more.

Its bad that the waitstaff have to deal with this crap. When you can have unlimited amounts of bread and biscuits you have to bug them to death. Whats funny is though, if it were all you can eat shrimp, they would smother you with those cheese biscuits so that you would'nt eat so many shrimp.

I am UNHAPPY with Red Lobster as well! We only go out a few times a year, and Valentine's Day we order take out from there and enjoy it in the peace of our own home rather than fight the crowds...well I went to order our normal stuff and they have done away with my favorite - Ultimate Fondue! Do they know they are messing with the cravings of a very hormonal pregnant woman?! Lol...they were nice enough however to supply us with a nice big bag of biscuits which DH made sure they included telling them he was a dead man if they weren't in the bag when he got home...:rotfl:

I remember a couple of years ago they had one of those all you can eat shrimp promotions,my dad ordered it and you could get 2 different kinds of shrimp at a time, like first you order fried shrimp and scampi then when you're done you get the waiter to bring you two others.Well after he finished his first two shrimp orders(which were pretty small) he sat waiting for like 15 minutes for the waiter to come back to order more.It was like they were instructed to go by the table as little as possible so you would order less, and it's not like he was busy with other tables as the restaurant was not busy,he was just avoiding going by the table.

we got a GIFTCARD FOR THERE AT X-MAS. I think the food was ok but pricey for what we got. We did love the cheesy buscuit:goodvibes. We have about $20 left on the giftcard and plan to do the soup and salad and buscuits-yum!!!!!!!!!!!

that's the way it was when DH and I went a few weeks ago. the little basket was a bit sad :sad1:

My son loves Red Lobster, I think it is way overpriced for frozen food! But, the biscuits are very good, that is what he really goes for anyway. We noticed the last few times we have gone that they bring the biscuits out two at a time. We just keep asking for more! We normally get cheese sticks and then share an entree. With the salad and bread, it is plenty for us and we get out pretty cheap, especially at lunch.

Those biscuits are the only reason to go to Red Lobster :)

well, frankly, i think the portions served in most restaurants are GIGANTIC and unhealthy. No wonder we are all FAT.

Flame away.

ANd not everyone just LOVES the cheese biscuits. And I bet they DO throw away more than we can imagine.

This is why I make my own at home now! I almost have the same recipe as them. The taste is almost exact!

3 cups bisquick
1 cup cheddar cheese shredded
1 cup milk
2TSbp parsley

mix all together make drop biscuits on a greased baking pan. bake 375 for 12 minutes

melt 3-4 TBsp of butter and mix with garlic salt, brush on hot biscuits and serve!

This recipe saves me since we live some where there is no Red Lobster but plenty of fresh lobster from the ocean!!!

DH and I hit RL a few weekends ago and he asked me "isn't there a recipe for these biscuits that you can make?" So thanks for saving me looking it up.

Our service was quite good. It was DH and I. Server brought a basket of 4 biscuits and refilled us with two more without any strife. A side note--has anyone tried their berry sangria? OMG---this is a nice little drink.:cloud9:

I don't work for Red Lobster but I do work for a another chain restaurant that Darden owns. You have no idea how much we throw out that comes back uneaten from the table. Thats why they do it. For mine we give out 1/2 loaf for upp to two people and a full for 3 or more. Sometimes you will get two people who will eat 4 full loaves (not lying happened the other night) and you might have a party of four that will only eat their one loaf. You just don't know. In the past I have taken out a full loaves to parties of two that insist on a full one and they barley touch it.

Supervisors enforce this rule, the server is not doing it on purpose. I can't tell you how many times I brought out more than I was supposed to and I will be questioned about it. It's like they stalk the tables just waiting for a full loaf to go out.

The thing is that upper management predict how much bread will be eaten by a certain amount of guests. Never mind that we seem to have many guests that eat tons of bread rather than ordering food. I'm talking splitting one small entrée between 2 people while asking for loaf after loaf. Now one or two tables and it wouldn't matter but if many people do this it will show in the numbers and it does. They won't tell people they cannot have ore bread so they have to find a way to limit the amount used.

As a side note I'm glad they do this since it DOES cut back on waste. It always makes me sad to see just how much food gets wasted it's unbelievable. :sad2:

We've been going to Red Lobster about once a year for years and they've never brought more than one biscuit per person in the basket.

I can't even imagine asking for more than one refill of biscuits. I actually wouldn't ask for more and would only get more if they offered them. They don't advertise all you can eat biscuits. :confused3
