When we travelled to Disneyworld, I packed about 6 Red Bulls in my checked luggage, can I do that as well on a Disney Cruise?

If not, is there another way to get them there?

I am not a coffee drinker & my Red Bull is my morning coffee & MUST HAVE, any recommendations?

Also, since you can't use your cell phones, how do you stay in touch with your family members, meaning teens mostly. It is just me & my son & this is our first cruise & he wants to try the Vibe Teen room on the Disney Dream & also wants to try the Teen Beach at Castaway Cay, but I hate him not having a cell phone. Do you basically just have a meeting time/place & tell your teens to stay in that location until you come & meet back up with them?

You can take beverages in your carry on luggage.

DCL has wave phones which enable you to keep in touch while on the ship and on CC. I haven't experienced them yet, but there's a big old thread about them here somewhere.

I don't give my DS16 many restrictions other than that if he's going to be out past midnight it has to be in the club. Other than that, he comes and goes and I don't worry too much about him.

Not from the airplane in your carry on luggage. We will be coming straight from Orlando/MCO with the Disney Cruise Line bus taking us directly from the airport to the port & they do not allow liquid in your carry on luggage on the plane.

But I was thinking I could put about 6 cans in my checked bags, but when I read online it appears that the DCL may take them out of your checked baggagge, or am I reading that incorrectly?

Great info !!! I will have to ask about that or try to find that thread to see how the wave phones work, thank you !!

I need to know too. RB is *my* coffee too and I don't want them confiscated nor do I want to buy them off the plane at the airport for 4.00 a can :sad2:

No, you are understanding them correctly. They have taken beverages out of checked luggage in the past. People have been called to get off the ship and go to the luggage area to retrieve it also.

From the reply below, looks like we will need to buy them at the airport & place them in our carry on luggage to take them on the ship. I will pay $4 a can if I have to, it is truly my morning mo joe !!!!! :)

Thank you, that is what I thought, but I did not know if that only pertained to glass bottles, I am curious why they would take it out of your checked airline luggage, but yet let you bring it on your carry on luggage??? Are we sure they won't take them away in my carry on luggage at the DCL baggage check area?

It may not be as convenient, but it would work. Put the RB in your checked luggage, but DO NOT put DCL tags on your luggage. Claim your luggage at MCO baggage claim, retrieve your RB from checked luggage, transfer to carry on luggage. Place DCL tags on your checked bags, place them in the undercarriage of the DCL bus and you will see them again in your state room.

I only know this b/c on our 2009 cruise, i left my DCL tags on the kitchen counter and had to claim bags at MCO.

Have you ever seen the rooms on deck where they stack the luggage before its delivered to the staterooms??? They probably remove it b/c they don't need either the mess or the upset/angry passengers when something breaks, gets smashed or explodes. That would not be good!

Your other option is to join the meet and great group for your cruise and ask if there is anyone who is driving/able to buy some for you and either meet you in the terminal or once on board.

I'm doing something similar for a fellow DISer on my cruise.

DCL's beverage policy is ANY beverage you want to bring onboard is fine as long as it is in your carry ons bags...

I was going to post the same answer!

Wow, all great ideas & info, thanks everyone !!! I think I will either do the meet/greet option or just purchase them at the MCO aiport & put them in my carry on. I LOVE not having to hassle with getting my checked luggage at the airport. It is great to know we CAN bring the beverages aboard in our carry on luggage at the DCL bag check area, I was very worried they would make me get rid of them or take them away.

I am not pleasant without my morning Red Bull !!! Thanks guys !!!!

Just to let you know there will be signs at the security area stating that no food or drink or coolers are permitted. This is a port rule from what I can tell. However, since DCL allows beverages the only thing the security people will say about your drinks is that it looks like you are ready to party or have a great time. I was worried when we went to the port the first time and saw the signs in 2003 because we had a soft-sided cooler that was full. The only thing they ask is that you do not put ice in the cooler because if it leaks it could damage the equipment.

Thank you for that info because I am a rule follower & if I would have seen that sign before getting to the security area at DCL, I would have thrown them in the trash fearing they would make me at the check point. But it appears from what you have stated & what the moderator prevoiusly stated, I can carry about 6 cans of Red Bull in my carry on bag onto the ship, correct?

Now, does anyone know which restaurant or cafe in the MCO International Airport sales Red Bulls? (Can you tell I am an addict?)

Just to give you an idea of how the luggage gets on board and why they ask people to carry on their beverages.
