Red blotchies on inside of legs (sorry, y'all)

Does anyone use Water pills? would this help?
Many meds for high BP are diuretics which seem to worsen it.
I never got the rash when I was younger (and not on BP meds) but I do get it now. I wear compression stockings to work every day and they feel grrrreat on my legs. So much so that I wear them at home when we don't have company. I think you have to be in the 80+ age bracket to pull off wearing them all over WDW. I bring them on all trips and wear them to bed and at times when I know we'll be in our room for more than a couple minutes. They're expensive but worth it. I also like to wear them on the plane if it's long pants weather at home. :thumbsup2

Goofy4tink, may I ask which BP med made it much worse?

This seemed to pop up on my legs too, but it was after a day at Castaway Cay. I thought it was something in the water, but I never found out.

I too just used Cortisone cream. Mine did itch like crazy though. Gone in about three days.

Sneakers and socks were my undoing! All my life, I have preferred to be barefoot or at least in sandals in hot weather . My DSIL advised me that I should really wear "proper" footwear and socks for long hit days at the parks on our first visit. I did fine for several days in my sandals but with a marathon MK day scheduled on a hot day, I stupidly followed her advice. My legs exploded in this rash. It was itchy and painful for days. And my calves swelled to the point that walking itself became a hardship. I actually rented a wheelchair for our Sea World day, because I could barely walk across a room. This was a two week trip, the rash occurred on Day 3 and my legs were still an ugly mess when I got home.

After many subsequent trips, with my toes happily exposed, I have had only small and infrequent flare ups. All controllable with cool water immersion and some leg elevation in the evening.

This is not the answer for everyone... DH hates to have his toes see the light of day, and sets forth every day in sneakers and socks. Not a trace of the dreaded rash. Just some rather ripe socks at the end of the day.

I usually get it every trip. Its the only thing that is really free at the World!

Me too. the last 5-7 years? I didn't get it the first 15-18 years or so, so I figure it is something different they use when power-washing the cement, or something that has changed. (of course, it could be my body that has changed somehow :P) But it always goes away within a week when I get home. I only get it at Disney, not other places with long days of sun exposure, or walking on cement and sun reflected on my legs & ankles for hours.

I got it both times we camped at FW but not on other visits. At first thought is was some kind of bug bite but I just ignored it until it went away. Was rather dark and gross looking!

I also think that some medications make the rash worse. And, mine ITCH like crazy!!

Saw the picture and had to read further. I have been to DW multiple times, different times of the year and on BP med for the past several years, and never had this happen - until this trip. Maybe starting wih a 5k on Friday and the parks in the afternoon didn't help. I am not stayingg at a Disney resort, so it would not have anyhing to do with the sanitizer as has been speculated in another thread.

MY apologies for asking this, but is seems like 75% of the time when I go to any of the Disney parks or Busch in Tampa I get, to various degrees, little red marks that only appear on the inside of my legs---never on the top or outside, and always below the knee.

The good news is it usually lasts for 2-3 days then goes away. It's also not itchy either.

Today we went to Animal Kingdom in the morning and Hollywood Studios in the afternoon and it's back. Has this happened to anyone else and does any one know what causes it? Just cannot understand why it only appears on the inside of legs below the knee.
Sounds like the disney disease that some have linked to the pavement treatment everywhere.

sorry, I missed this one!!!! I can't remember which BP med it was. But the one I'm no now has a diuretic and it doesn't happen anymore. Evidently, once my doctor saw what it really was, a lightbulb went off in her head...'OMG.....bp meds can cause that!!!'. Seriously? I had to do the research and then you make the connection? It doesn't happen very much anymore. If it does, it's very minor and I can lie down with my feet propped up at night..that seems to help the mild cases.

I have found a good long soak in the hot tub each night takes care of it for me as each day passes on our trip.

It can also be this

I find if I make sure my legs get enough sun before I go, I don't get it (which would go along with it being PME for me). This is easy in the summer. If I go in the winter and it's hot and sunny down there and I wear shorts after wearing pants all winter, forget it, I get it right away.

One of the side effects of being pale and Irish I guess
