I have no idea what to take for him. I've read to have a new toy to give him. Everything I've found is big, bulky, noisy, or has things to lose. I'm in desperate need of ideas here. THanks a bunch!

I hadn't thought of this before--but it was true on all our flights. When I heard someone else mention that I remembered that is what worked on our flights.

FOOD!

cheerios, snack items--et cetera. Especially if your 15 month old is really into that.

Travel Magnadoodle, wind-up toys, Crayola Color Wonder coloring book (marker only works on Color Wonder paper, otherwise, it's invisible), small pop-up books.
Have fun!

stickers! All my kids love them. The older ones make nice "pictures" with them or I get the coloring books with stickers but at 11 months my DD loved just sticking them on herself and me.

Do you have a seat for him? I brought my DD's carseat and she actually slept most of the plane trip.

A portable dvd player and headphones! Talk about a life saver on long road trips and plane rides! Weve had ours for years. We charge it before we go and dont pull it out until the plane has leveled off. Out it comes with a selection of movies and by dimming the screen we can get around 3 hrs use out of the battery. Plenty for our flights, or if we layover, I plug it in to recharge it while waiting for the next leg. We also have a car charger that has a special adapter to use on planes that have plug-ins in the seat.

Food and drink are also necessities, especially during take off and landing as it helps clear the ears when swallowing. Skip anything that has several parts to it since if they fall on the floor, youre going to have fun picking them up all the time in such a cramped space! Books, coloring books, electronic games (with volume control or headphones) are other staples. Our son usually ended up falling asleep soon after take off too (we ran him around in the terminals before hand, and then he got so excited watching the planes, etc that he was tired). A favorite blankie or stuffed animal might be nice to cuddle up to in this case.

I read somewhere to bring those peel off window decals that you can get to decorate your windows for holidays and such. Your little one can have fun peeling them off the plane window and making different scenes with them. I know Office Max sells them.

We took play doh. They sell the small travel sizes in a resealable bag and it worked great. Stickers and sticker activity books are fun too. I agree with the pp's about having lots of snacks! Hopefully your little one will sleep. My son usually does. We survived a trip from philadelphia to la with him when he was 20 months old. He flew as a lap baby. He didn't sleep until we landed. The surprise toys and snacks really helped. He did great. Have fun!

They sell these magnet picture mats- with cars, dinosaurs or whatever- they fold flat like a folder- they also have colorforms that do the same thing- foldup and are small. I would also bring small cars to play with on the tray. Books are great too. check out amazon.com and search for travel books for toddlers- I got a cheerio book(you put cheerio in little holes in the picture on the page-ds loved that)

I agree with Lisa. We flew BWI to MCO with my then 16 mo nephew. We got little crackers for our snack item. He played with them for a looooong time.

We also took books to read but he scanned through it and quickly wanted something else.

If he can color....those color wonder markers and sheets are great. (Color only appears on paper...not hands, clothes, seats, etc... :flower:
