do anyone know what recreation and lifeguard questions are asked on the interview i know that you get asked questions about the roles that you picked and those are what i pick i just want to be prepaired any tips or advice on what might be asked

hmm thats weird I dont remember getting any questions specifically asked I did the WDWCP in Summer of 2006 , started out with lifeguarding at Blizzard Beach. I had a swim test the day after I got there, I placed in the "deep water guards" aka the good swimmers/who passed and if you are not so fast/good you are called a "shallow water guard" and they mainly place you at a resort, i was placed at a waterpark..ehh that was WAYYYY to crrrazy

I went on my College Program in Spring 07 and I choose recreation and lifeguarding too. In my interview they asked me if I had any experience and why I thought I would like those roles. That was really it, they ask you alot about you and how you work with others. As for the mis-statement above. Shallow water guards can not be placed at a resort. YOU MUST BE A DEEP WATER GUARD to be placed at a resort. They only use shallow water guards on shallow rotations at the water parks. I was a deep water guard at the resorts and I LOVED EVERY MINUTE of it!!!! I got the chance to do both lifeguarding and recreation. If you are at the resort you have more options and dont have to do the same thing everyday. You also get to know the families who stay at the resorts and it is a whole diffrent experience. I did a few days at the water parks and they are right it is quite intense, but lacks the magic the resorts have. As i'm sure you will learn when you go on your program there is a stigma among water park or "park guards" to think they aree high and mighty and better then the resort guards. Its simply not true as the ISOC (a lifeguard competition among the Disney resorts and parks) results have proved the past 5 years running (my region placing 1st two of those 5 years). I wish you the best on your program and i know you will love it. But please if you do become a park gaurd dont lose your disney spirit and remember that all the guards are equal and play for the same team.

Ok, I have a question. I have been CPR trained for the past year since I worked as a summer camp counsiler and I put down lifeguarding as one of my choices. My CPR certification just exspired a few weeks ago, so if I go to the college program will there be CPR training and stuff like that?

This might be a stupid question but I was just wondering, so if I need to I can just be re-certified at home.

That is definatly not a stupid question. Yes they will re-certify you there! You will take a swim test and a three day class when you get there. NO WORRIES!!! The class is actually really fun and you will meet people you work with. I hope you have a good time on your program, I know I did!

Can someone tell me what you actually do in Recreation? I read the description and thought it looked pretty interesting and am wondering if anyone has any more to add. Thanks! :D

WOW!!!!!!!! Recreation can be anything from childrens activities to towel changer. I was a recreation hostess and lifeguard, my list of jobs included:
1- Cashier
2- Morning Pool Cleaner
3- Evening Pool Cleaner
4- Boat Docker
5- Children's Activites
6- Recreation Room Babysitter
7- Towel Metro Changer
8- Lifeguard
9- Downtown Disney Cashier and Boat Docker
10- Utilties (pool detailing)
*** Recreation is basically anything they need you to do on the pool deck, arcade, recreation center, rental areas, docks, etc... It can literally be something new everyday. I did things from coloring contests and pool parties to towel cleanups and boat washing. The hours are also great!!!!!! The latest I was home was 10:30 which trust me compared to my roomies was AMAZING!!!!

I had fun with my role, i was based out of DAKL, but spent time picking up shifts at poly and csr which were both fun.

ohhh yea.. and... i heard that if you dont work in one of the water parks then you cant get in the waterparks for free, just a discount.. so if your a lifeguard in a waterpark do you get in all the parks free or what??

So how much do lifeguards get paid?

Before you pass you lifeguard class, you are paid $7.14/hour. After you pass your class you receive a dollar raise, which is a really nice suprise! Also to answer your other question, if you work at a waterpark you get into the waterparks for free. If you work in a resort, you get to go to the waterpark for half price.
