recovering deleted or corrupt images

Use isopropyl alcohol, use a clean lint free cloth and rub from the center hole straight to the edge of the disk. That's the opposite procedure that we used to use when cleaning records.

Using a dry shirt is just as likely to scratch the disk as clean it. There are cleaning kits that have a substance that will actually fill in some scratches. Some people use toothpaste.

BTW, on the final disc, use a really good disc cleaner. Youd be suprised how many discs are "dirty" when you can't see any dirt or smudges. Wiping it with your husband's shirt isn't enough. :)

This was advice given by Panasonic.

Panasonic said they would try to recover the data for free. I'll keep you posted on what they turn up.

I'll give this a try before I send it out. Thanks.

Buy .com has MediaRECOVER Photo & Data Recovery Software

for 4.95 after rebate....

have you ever tried this? this past fall I lost my disney pictures (that I loaded onto my parents computer...my computer was missing somehting at the time) and I went to my house to get a cd to burn them to and the computer crashed (my sister also in the meantime deleted all 700 pictures from camera!!!!!!!) so I was left with nothing.

Is this the type of recovery it can do?????

I am new to this so be kind :goodvibes

thanks, pamela

I've not used the software before but the answer to your question is 'it depends'. I had a friend's computer crash and I was able to put their hard drive in my machine and recovered nearly every image and music file they had on their machine before the crash.

For something like this, the software would have been handy to recover the pictures from your card easier - as long as you've not started taking new pictures over the old. If you hadn't used to card after the pictures were deleted, you should have been able to recover 100% of your pictures.

To make sure I don't have this problem, I don't ever delete off the card unless I'm sure I've got a backup copy of the pictures on CD or DVD.

Sorry you lost your pictures!

my sister did start taking pictures over the old ones..................I am like you and never delete until I know I have backed them up.........this was an very unfortunate thing to happen to us and I was out of my mind...........okay with it now, but I may look into the product to see if it works..............it's only a little money out of pocket if it doesn't

I have not used this specific program, I own Recover My Files, which cost me about $80, I used it to recover over 10,000 pictures from a hard drive that had been reformatted and had XP re-installed...well worth the 80

Hi,

My daughter-in-law's father took pictures of the birth of her first son and my first grandchild. Now, somehow, he's lost the images on his Palm Pilot. Can any help with this, PLEASE?

Thank you........

I think that 'recovery' would only be possible if he had synced the Palm with his computer since the photos were taken. They may be found in a folder on the computer if he synced it. I know my DH's Treo, saves pictures in an images folder.

what device does he have,,, with my pocket pc ATT 8525.

pics can be stored on the device or a seperate memory card,

when I open my pic folder I then have to choose the subfolder..

Cant vouch for it's effectiveness but the price is right. There is a different software application featured on giveawayoftheday.com that includes free registration if you download it and install it that day.

Today's is a file recovery utility that works with any type of removable media (CD, DVD, USB flash drive, and any type of memory card). Based on the little bit I've played with it, it's useful only in situations where you are able to see the drive and see the individual files but are having trouble reading them.

I know this has been discussed before. Just couldn't get search to work.

The card (not mine ;) )was re-formatted before all the photos transferred!

What are some good recovery programs that you have used?

THANKS!

thanks - it is my cousin's card and the photos are from her wedding/honeymoon

I have used a program called " recover my files"

i recovered over 10,000 photos from a hard drive that had been formatted and had windows xp reinstalled..

I know this has been answered a few times here, but I can't get the search tool to work very well.

I finally finished getting all my images from the memory cards to my HD. I've just about got of them converted to jpeg's. As I'm going through the images I see that I'm missing some pictures. I know I'm missing 1 SD card so after a few days of not being able to find it I was blaming it on that. The more I think about the more I realize that I don't remember actually using that particular card. Then I find other images that I thought were lost, but I had my sequence remembered wrong and found many of them.

Though I'm still missing about 60 pictures. So I go through the cards again and get to the card that has images right before the one's I'm missing. Typically I can get about 330 or so images on 1 2GB card. This card also says it only has 274. The last file that I can see in the card wont download to my computer. Now I start putting 2 and 2 together. I have a bad card and the missing images are probably still on there, but I can't see them.

So I'm thinking that with some recovery software I can probably get back most of those 60 or so missing pictures.

I did a google search, but I'm lost as to which ones might be better or not or free or not. bla bla bla. The files on the card are Nikon RAW files, NEF. Is there any one better than another? What kind of succuss have people had with various programs? Any idea's on which one's to try?

Thanks for the help.

What kind of files they are really shouldn't matter - data is data whether it's a photo, an application, a document, music, whatever. Pretty much any data recovery software should be pretty effective at recovering your data.

First thing I'd do, though, is run a chkdsk or scandisk on it. If you're running XP, right-click the drive that corresponds to the memory card and go into Properties, then the Tools tab. Hit the Check Now button, let it run, and see if it finds any errors. If so, have it fix them and see if you can get your pictures back.
