I'm finally going through with the purchase of my Rebel Xti :cool1:

I was doing some price comparisons and B&H seems to be really reasonable....DH seems to think that he read somewhere that they sell "gray" (?) ones or japanese models or something?

Has anyone had experience with them at all? How are they with customer service?

I plan on buying the kit w/ the lense and card that they advertise...what other lenses do you recommend? Any particular brand of cards I should look into in addition to the one it comes with? I use Sandisk with my current camera (an S2 IS)

Thanks for reading my ramble! :goodvibes

If you want customer service from an Etailer, BH is the best. Yes they do sell import lenses(and maybe bodies) but they always clearly mark it as such. If you buy the US version there should be no issue.

But IMO if you have your mind made up check prices from beachcamera.com, they ship for free and charge no tax(most of the US), I am positive they should save you some money.

Also dont buy your cards from Camera stores in bundles and such, I have never seen it yield any savings.

I buy most of my stuff from amazon, just because of free 2 day shipping (or overnight for $4) with my prime account. I've ordered from b&h in the past though, and have been very happy with them.

B&H has an excellent reputation, I wouldn't hesitate recommending them even though I've only ordered from the once.

I usually buy my camera gear from buydig and beachcamera (sister sites) and occasionally Amazon. I always select the free shipping with buydig and beach yet I always receive my order within 1-2 business days via FedEx.

Several people have at work recommend Beachcamera.com They don't charge tax (outside of NJ) and don't charge shipping.

I've ordered many things from B&H (just ordered a new lens this week as a matter of fact), and I've always been pleased. I've only had to return something once--a bag that didn't hold as much as the description implied, and for that reason they agreed to pay all the shipping costs.

As Anewman mentioned, they do sell international or grey market items, but they usually offer the US one too. Just read the descriptions carefully so you know what you're getting. IMO their descriptions are much clearer than some other sites' in this regard.

I purchased my XTi from B & H. Called the 800 # on a Sunday afternoon and had the camera in hand on Thursday. Very pleased with the service and would not hesitate at all to purchase from them in the future. (have my eye on a lens or two)
