Recommendations

I need recommendations for an embroidery sewing machine. I am looking at the Brother and Singer machines.

What I want it for: to embroider Disney characters and fonts on craft projects and to add DH's name and company name to his work shirts

Please let me know why you recommend the machine you are recommending.

Wow - I could have written this post (minus the DH's work shirts - I won't even iron those for him ) and would love any input as well.

I never got any responses.

Anyway, I ended up buying the Singer 250 from Joann's. You have to use a computer with it. But it will read different types of files and will convert jpeg (and I think some others) into embroidery files. None of the others would do that without paying extra $$$ for software.

I've been researching embroidery machines as well.
I would like one that can be hooked to computer (w/ software) so I can use my fonts.
Also that I can sew with - do you recommend that or keep you regular machine and just embroider w/ the new one.
And I am an intense hobbyist, not a professional, so I don't need the $8000 model, but definitely a machine that would withstand frequent use.

Have you used your machine yet? I am really..really..really wanting one but I can not persuade my husband to let me spend the $$ yet. Does your also have a sewing foot? Can you use any font on your computer with this machine? thanks for answering!
