Recommendations for quick-dry clothing.... for when I want to ride the water rides??!!

there's more to water rides than getting wet.
i love splash mountain but i love it for the storyline, the songs, the drops... i do not like walking around with soggy underwear all day.

i do like to see the story line for jurassic water ride.
it is slow moving until the drop and what you see prior, really adds to that big drop at the end.

on blutos barges......lol.....
i have not been able to look around and see what the story path holds.

i'm too much on the look out for water falling on my head.....

do have to agree with splash mountain, i adore the story line for that disney ride.
the one thing that i don't like about it is not the drop or the small amount of splashing water.

it is the part where if the boats are backed up to go back inside the mountain (lower level aftere the drop) that is where i can get drenched when the boats have come down that waterfall mountain.

I just go with whatever strikes my fancy at Uni, so I never plan out what I'm riding when...that's just my way of doing things...so I am always in my standard jean shorts and super hero T shirt on water rides...VERY wet after :)
Being wet doesn't usually bother me as it's so warm I dry out quick. But, one year it was kinda overcast and we were CHILLY after ripsaw falls. Those $5ish human dryers looked so inviting...long story short, they might dry out one person well, but it does nothing for you when you cram 7 people in at once :rotfl:

We've only been to Universal one time, but our girls loved the water rides, especially Popeye's. We usually rode them all as many times as they wanted before heading back to the hotel for our midday break (pool time, shower, change).
Dh typically wore his swim trunks as shorts and an athletic quick dry top. They girl usually wore rash guard tops as shirts (or quick dry athletic tops) and athletic shorts. I usually wore board shorts and a quick dry top.
We all wore keens or tevas on our feet.
You can find different types of quick dry clothing. There is the more athletic (think for runners or soccer players etc) type, and then the type that looks like every day clothing but made of wicking material (think hiking shorts/skorts and golf/tennis shirts or skirts or fishing clothes).
My Target has a better selection of the athletic type than my Walmart does, but that probably varies by store. Target's C9 brand is usually priced pretty well. If you have an Academy Sports near you, ours has a good selection of athletic and hiking type stuff at good prices (they have the expensive brands, but also less expensive ones). Athleta and Title 9 have nice stuff also, but it can be expensive.

We save all the water rides at Universal to do all at once, as many times as we want. Then we go back to change. Last trip, I needed to "run" into Guest Services on the way back to the hotel to change and made a giant puddle during the exorbitantly long wait.

Lol.........

That's what we do usually.......spend an afternoon just getting soaked.........

Never bring the camera on days like that......no bad hair pictures there........lol........we came back into the hotel through the lobby once.........one of the valet guys we know got us towels........we were still dripping.......but fun!!

JCPenney has some great, quick-dry activewear. I bought 3 outfits there for our trip last summer - skorts with matching shirts. With coupons and stuff, they were about $25 per outfit and super cute. I wore them with a cute sun hat and my Keen sandals and they did great.

Oh, and my guys were their cargo style swim shorts with a rash guard or quick-dry tee from Walmart over top, also with Keen sandals. We put the electronics into double closure, Ziploc freezer bags and stuffed them in the cargo pockets. Worked perfectly.

Just don't do what the guy next to us did last year. He had on a white tee shirt and white shorts....

I usually do a pair of lightweight palazzo pants, lightweight shirt and sandals.

Rip saW falls is crazy! But I love it. The first time I rode it I had on a white shirt and was soaked! I always bring sandals and extra clothes.

I LOVE water rides but I hate water. I know... I know... I'm a bit off. I always group them together either at the end of the day or before a break around lunch at the heat of the day and then go back to the room to change. I have an awesome waterproof backpack I got on Amazon for $17. As far as clothes I just wear whatever I'm wearing... Usually it's a last minute decision. When I have planned to ride a water ride I wear a super thin but dark colored shirt (usually an exercise) and some exercise shorts. Most of my stuff comes from walmart or Target. Walmart has some great shirts for... I think mine were 5.99. I've worn my rain jacket before but thats more of to keep my hair dry as it's very long and very annoying/heavy when wet. I think it was actually raining in the park that day so I just had it on anyways. I've ridden Ripsaw many times wihtout getting wet. I duck behind the person in front of me. I also bring flip flops to wear because nothing is worse than wet tennis shoes especially when you don't have a drier to put them in!!! Blow driers do work in a pinch though... Oh and I usually wear a sports bra or swim top rather than a regular... can you imagine a waterlogged bra.. that would be terrible! :umbrella:

A friend gave me a gift of a tee shirt and a hoody, purple of course from Walmart and it's quick dry.......it really is good.......I think I know what you mean.....but can't remember the name.......I would recommend that too......

two snaps up to their danskin line!

personally i just toss a poncho for splash mountain and kali river rapids.
and then in addition for kali i'd toss on flip flops or water shoes.

if you really want to find clothing though i'd look for board shorts and any shirt thats made of scuba material.
its quick drying and at least in my case very figure flattering.

idk re the rash guard type shirts in the parks, they are of thick material, in addition to protection from the reef, also designed to be worn tight to help insulate you out in the water re the wind. imo in the hot, humid parks, it's akin to wearing a poncho, yuck. I'd rather get soaked vs melting from wearing of them on a ride. not sure how people don ponchos and wear all day in the parks when it rains.

commando - it doesn't just mean just soldier on in the parks:duck:lol
Yea, for Popeye's raft ride...ponchos just kept our shirts kinda dry, we were still soaked. They did help quite a bit on Ripsaw Falls (my youngest hates getting splashed & he will only ride with a poncho) Our shoes were wet, but we wear sandals....not completely dry, but a lot drier than other people :)

if it gives him comfort to wear it, then by all means. I just don't think on Popeye a poncho really helps much, everybody comes off looking as tho they fell into a swimming pool. All part of the fun for us but for noobs good idea to eye up the guests @ the exit before deciding if you are comfy with that level of wet.

Isn't the point of water rides getting wet??

A whole group of us kept booing people who had ponchos on last year.........was funny......even they agreed it looked daft..........

Wouldn't wear a poncho, never had one .......might get booed......lol......

you should hear me booing (putting it politely lol) the little water snipers on 'me ship, the Olive. I must have a target on my back, could be fact I'm not wearing a poncho now that I think of it:p

That was you??????? Sorry........:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: Oh yeah, if you don't have a poncho.......fair target.......::yes::

Kyle has a brilliant aim on those........we love the ones beside Popeye you out 25c in.........folks really booooooo us when we soak them there.......hilarious.......we can take it back tho when we go on it........

Danskin........that's it!!! Thanks...........:thumbsup2

I wear a golf shirt and shorts I got at Kohls. They both dry really quick.

Keep in mind if you have not ridden yet. The two major water rides at IOA get you just completely soaked. Nothing like Splash or Kali. Picture wearing your clothes into the shower with everything you have on and letting the water run over you for 5 minutes.

I did notice this last trip that they have changing rooms right outside the raft ride.

We prefer to just leave a change of quick dry clothes (including undies!) in a locker near the ride. Change into them when we're ready to ride, and either change back or walk straight back to the hotel afterward, depending on our plans for later.

I echo the shoe statement 100%. I can handle wet clothes for a while, but absolutely not wet shoes and socks! I always stick a pair of flip-flops in my drawstring backpack for the water rides.
